who or what got up this guys butt? or is it just a kustar thing?
:cyclist:

he wrote pretty a pretty good
article column for a guy who spent most of the 1st half text messaging
-
Yeah, pretty accurate piece.
-
If we'd a beat Texas he's would have bobbed on our knob. He is a horrible blob of goo.

He did get booed by almost the entire student section when he was walking to his seat on press row.
-
must have been walking around looking for a dirty t-shirt to write about... finding none, he grills the team... but heck, we deserve it
:cyclist:
-
wish he would have complemented the jerseys.
-
I agree he wasn't caustic w/ the tongue tonight. He was acurate to the point even the stauch KSU fans could agree
-
I'll disagree with the word desperation. I think it's one game too soon. If/when we lose to Kansas, then it will be desperation time because the next two would become must wins to feel OK, but right now, we are still about an 8 seed in the tourney if it ended today. If he's talking about a Big 12 Championship, well, that pretty much went out the window when we lost both games last week. I think the thing that people are missing is the strength of the Big 12. As much as we have sucked it up, we're still third in the league and playing toe to toe with the second hottest team in the country all while laying a brick sh1t house from the field and getting 1 point from "one of our only two players worth anything." It seems like he was waiting to unleash something negative but pulled the trigger one too early. JMO.
-
I completely agree with this article. We need to win 2 out of the next three to get in and we should, otherwise we don't belong.
@uk- Loss
Colarado-Win
@Iowa State-Win or we don't belong
That will get us to 10-6 and we SHOULD be good because we beat the #2 (at the time) team in the country. If we don't get in, this would be a devastating blow to the team in the future.
-
He was pissed that we booed him tonight (he deserved it).
-
yeah a pretty good article overall, couple of cheapshots, but seriously what would you expect?
-
If the schedule was in reverse order, but with the same results, the column would be opposite.

our 1st 5 games were pretty tough as well. 5-0.
We aren't playing as well because our seniors can't hit a shot.
-
A loss at Kansas would pretty much dictate that K-State win its next three games — two regular-season contests and first-round Big 12 tourney game — to have a shot at the NCAA Tournament. I’m not sure the Big 12 is strong enough for a 9-7 team to earn a tournament berth, especially when you consider some 10-6 conference teams have sat at home.
It’s difficult to imagine these Wildcats missing the NCAA Tournament. They have too much talent for that.
If the Longhorns are indeed a team worthy of an NCAA Tournament No. 1 seed — and their resume says they are — then on Monday evening, the Wildcats were capable of playing with any team in the country.
Huh?
Please don't email him, it only makes him want to do it again.

@OU, aTm, @CU, ISU, ku, is not nearly as tough as MU, @NU, @BU, UT, @ku. It's lollable how not close those sets of games are.

We weren't just winning in those 1st 5 games, we were killing opponents. We were shooting lights out during that time.
-
Shooting, like last year is murdering us. Outside of beas and walker, the rest of our starting 3 would not start for any other team in the top half of the big 12.

Yes Whitlock, because the only basketball arena in the country that boos and hisses at the refs regardless of whether or not the fans really think it's the right or wrong call is inside Bramlage Coliseum. It's called home court advantage and trying to help your team get calls. It happens at many arenas around the country, including Lawrence, who's fans care enough about their team's success. There is nothing wrong with it and it has nothing to do with KSU vs the world, or feeling inferior in any way. That's just how we do it at KSU. However you choose to look at it is on you, bro.
-
I think whitlock wants to be friends w/bill and mike. this is his way of reaching out (saying ksu doesn't deserve you)

K-State basketball wallowing in negativity
The angriest place in college basketball is Bramlage Coliseum, home to the game’s most electrifying player, Kansas State power forward Michael Beasley.
When Beasley takes the court at Bramlage, it is no place for children and families. It’s fertile recruiting ground for militias, political talk-show hosts and other extremist groups that prey on the paranoid and hypocritically self-righteous.
Betrayed by Bob Huggins, emboldened by an inexperienced coach who boils from start to finish, and fearful that the risk taken to obtain Beasley won’t pay off and will make K-State a laughingstock, many Wildcats fans have turned embarrassingly vulgar, hostile and defensive.
Someone needs to explain to them that in basketball, there’s a very thin line between a healthy, us-against-the-world mentality and a destructive one.
You want to understand why the Wildcats’ on-court chemistry has regressed so suddenly and sharply over the past month, you want to know why Bill Walker constantly sulks, broods and erupts, get a tape of Monday night’s Texas-Kansas State game.
The Wildcats are being swallowed by the enmity, paranoia and feeling of victimization that permeates the K-State fan base and fuels first-year head coach Frank Martin’s coaching style.
You can’t consistently win basketball games while throwing a pity party.
Basketball is a game best played happy. There’s a reason Magic Johnson wore a wonderful smile, Larry Bird jokingly talked trash and Michael Jordan flew through the air with his tongue hanging out.
Basketball is fun, and winners don’t wear mean mugs.
Did Bobby Knight win 902 games, three national titles and angrily rip, shred and destroy everything in his path? Yeah. But he was the exception, and he never tolerated his players or fans mimicking his behavior or attitude.
Beasley and Walker, two good kids, too often ape the persona of their coach and fans. The players, having listened to the complaints of K-State fans, appear to hit the court believing they’ve been disrespected by the media and the college basketball world.
They have a chip on their shoulder that they don’t need. They had nothing to do with Huggins leaving, the long losing streak against Kansas or the inferiority complex that hampers Manhattan. Beasley and Walker don’t need to prove that Martin can coach and Dalonte Hill is worth the money.
Martin and Hill are grown men capable of fighting their own battles. Time will tell if they can coach and recruit. Beasley and Walker will be long gone when we reach a conclusion about Martin’s and Hill’s competency.
Kansas State’s nucleus, a group made up mostly of freshmen, needs to be filled with positive energy from Martin and fans. All the game-day, over-the-top negative energy/vulgarity directed at the refs, the opposition and (when it comes to Martin) K-State players not named Beasley and Walker is undermining the Wildcats’ growth.
It’s really laid the seeds for an immature squad, a team looking for excuses rather than a team that guts out tough games with effort.
Good teams and bad ones often reflect their coaches. Frank Martin fell into a job at the one place where fans would almost universally feed his defensive nature. It’s difficult to objectively self-reflect and adjust in an environment where everyone around you is telling you the world is unfair.
It takes a special person to evolve in that angry setting.
Martin should spend some time this week picking Bill Snyder’s brain. Winning at a high level at Kansas State is so difficult that Snyder rarely wasted a second feeling sorry for himself or trying to control things he couldn’t by definition. Snyder loved K-State fans, but he never wallowed in self-sympathy with them. He carried his players and fan base to a higher level.
That’s Martin’s challenge in the final weeks of the short-lived Michael Beasley era. Martin has to teach Beasley and Walker to play and carry themselves like winners for 40 minutes … even when the entire fan base is whining like a bunch of losers.
100% spot-on analysis by Whitlock, IMHO.
-
Potential All-American has a different take on the Kansas State Fans.
"With the Internet, some people will try to learn all about your family," said California Forward Ryan Anderson. "We were at, I think Kansas State, and they were saying stuff about my mom, like, "Sue Anderson's a babe!" That was pretty funny to hear."
And, no, that didn't work either as Anderson made all three of his free throws against Kansas State.

Man, students really got under his skin.
Holy sh*t. Something really got to him.
Honestly, the best way to get him to stop writing that crap is to limit the amount of people it reaches. Don't link it, don't read his articles, don't give the KC Star hits and don't talk about it. He writes for reaction. There's nothing to write for if people just wouldn't give him one.
-
You could replace every mention of KSU or Frank Martin in that article with Jason whitlock and for the most part it would all still read well.
-
He's right that fans are ignorantly nervous about Frank and Dalonte.
-
He also correctly asserts that fans get negative when their teams lose. really can't argue with the man.
-
He's only wrong about the need-to-be-10-6 part.
-
That article makes me lol.
-
Whitlock is the kind of guy that would get pissed off by fans at the game and emails and then write something to piss those people off.
-
He has an outrageous boner for KSU. He wants to be D. Hill so bad you can actually smell it in every piece he writes. I haven't seen any man this jealous of another man since I read how much Tom Brady made.
-
He's right that fans are ignorantly nervous about Frank and Dalonte.
LOL!
-
This just in..
fans get mad when their team loses.
and also, ever since we moved into Bramlage we've had a continual let down of basketball mediocrity and inferiority to just about everyone...not just Kansas so there is a reason for it.
We're waiting for a snap out of this vicious cycle.
-
the "ksu players don't smile and say 'nice pass' enough" talking point was put into the closet almost two months ago.
good job to bring it out of retirement for the ku game.
-
Apparently ISU fans are whiny fans and poor sports desparate to validate their reach of a hire because they are booing a ref no-call when Arthur grabbed the to deflect a shot.
-
I really thought the phog.net thread about this column was better written, more bitter, and more insightful. The part about how smart ku's "boos" are was classic.
Here is the money line:
ku fans typically only boo to K-State levels once it is clear the officiating is killing the game. Heck, I remember a few games recently where we booed the refs for calls on the other team because the flow of the game was so disrupted.

I don't read that board but I have never heard of something more inaccurate and lame in my life. Isn't ku the school who had a coach accuse refs of fixing a football game for UT? Talk about glass house.
Uh-oh. It seems ATM fans are bitter and immature. They are boing and hooting at a call.
-
I've been to many games in Allen Field House, and ku fans have booed every single call against ku in every single game I've been at. Whitlock's stupid for saying anything like that.
However, Whitlock is (sadly) correct that the typical KSU fan does sport massive inferiority and persecution complexes. It drives me crazy. I just get embarrased and annoyed whenever I see another "ESPN hates us" or "Prince/Martin is going to leave for a better school" thread.

many ku fans are much more flow-of-the-game fans than ku fans.
