7 Louisville at Kansas State. The Wildcats probably will be underdogs at home in a nonconference game. Is that legal? Louisville is receiving loads of publicity heading into 2006, including a No. 10 ranking by Athlon Sports.

that game has me worried. If we don't have all our ducks in a row and ready to march they will hang 4-5 td's on us before halftime.
-
Louisville should terrify you. Both QB Brian Brohm and RB Michael Bush are back. They lost their starting receivers but Mario Urrutia averaged 21.5 yards/catch last year.....AND HE DIDN'T EVEN START. Harry Douglas, Patrick Carter, Chris Vaughn and Elijah Daniel are also very capable receivers.
Defensively they'll be weak up front but their LB's and DB's are very talented. MLB Nate Harris and CB's William Gay and Rod Council are all play makers.
Oh by the way.....Art Carmody is going to be one of the best kickers in the country.
Take my word for it.....Louisville is SCARY!!!!!

Not convinced.

That's a great comparison jlynch1. It's just that with the newness of this program, I'll be uneasy going into a non conference game against a capable opponent. Maybe if we started beefing up the non conference schedule in 2007 I'd feel better.
-
sounds a lot like us. good offense, less impressive defense but with good line backers and secondary.
we have a good offense?
-
Louisville is your typical over-rated scrub from a weak conference, who because they actually have a couple of high level players is made out to be more much than they really are.
I welcome the opportunity to play them and hope they are ranked as high as possible.
-
They certainly scored a lot of points against bad defenses and I'll give them a little credit for going to 3OTs with W. Virginia, but they also got hammered by Virginia Tech in the bowl game, which if they were better wouldn't have happened.
It is also fairly apparent that there was a pretty substantial drop-off on the road.
-
Their matchup with Miami the week before is very beneficial for us too.

its a perfect game because unlike the fresno and marshall games, a loss or win will look good.
-
I am predicting a win, btw.

a loss for us will look good??
a loss to a supposed top 10 team will look good compared to a loss to an unranked team is what i meant.

we have a good offense?
we have two quarterbacks with d1 experience that have proven that they have the abilities to be good at times
i love this. why do people think that we have a strength at qb? good at times? im terrified of our qb situation if meier isnt completely healthy b/c neither of our remaining qbs have proven anything yet. freeman may be a stud but who knows and everige really hasnt proven anything except that he knows how to not win.
-
Why would anyone be scared of watching a decent team come to Manhattan to play a game...just doesn't make sense to me.

[newsflash] Everidge was a Redshirt Freshman last year... Go back and look at some of today's notable QB's and research how well they played as Freshman and Sophomores. I think VY threw just as many Interceptions as TD's his fresh year as a back up... How many games did Everidge single handedly lose?

We have depth and experience. However, beyond Dylan, the quality of play we'll see is YTBD.

i dont think you can singlehandedly blame anyone for a loss but everige hasnt shown anything to make me believe that the qb position can be called a strength. he could and should be better than the he was last year but we cant go around calling it a strength based off of what is possible.
-
You don't think passing for 1,365 yards and 6 TD's as a RS Fresh is a strength? We have this guy for 3 more years. even if he isn't a starter, doesn't that make you feel comfortable knowing that your back-up QB has taken hits from Big 12 foes? I see your point in that you are worried of not haveing a clear cut leader. But I'd sure rather have 4 capable QB's in my stable than a RS Freshman backed up by a couple of guys that have already proven that they can't move an offense; or a True Sophomore that logged some playing time, did some nice things, but has never been a starter and is backed up by guys that have never seen the field. I could go on and on. Bottom line, I don't see why our QB play is an issue. You want to talk about our Lines thats fine, RB's okay... But Everidge, Meier, Webb and Freeman are towards the bottom of my list of concerns.
-
But Everidge, Meier, Webb and Freeman are towards the bottom of my list of concerns.
and that is the single biggest reason that this football team scares me. i would not call a mediocre at best season a strength for a football team. sure he would be a decent backup but someone has to start. that leaves the true freshman and the guy returning from major shoulder surgery who didnt play last year. the fact that the qb's are not a concern implies to me that we have way to many concerns. im not saying that we wont have a good year or that the qb's are the worst of our concerns but they cant be called a strength either. obviously the lines are the probably the biggest concerns but i would put the qb situation pretty even with the running back situation. i mean we have a returning starter who averaged 4.6 yards per carry plus an experienced 6th year senior in alsup and a juco transfer who is supposedly very solid.
-
I agree... But there are guys capable of scoring in this offense. we saw it last year. So what, we're not going undefeated... Were you expecting that? I honestly believe the QB's we have can get us 7 wins. We would have had 7 wins last year if it hadn't been for a couple of fumbles and stronger play on defense. We could be a decent team without a standout qb as long as we have a top 10 defense. Not saying I believe we have a top 10 defense, but that ranks a lot higher on my list of concerns than who out of 3 guys will be under center, all with significant playing experience as well as a proven ability to move the football. Look at the ku game last year. Granted their offense sucked eggs, but our defense still won that game. what's wrong with winning games 12-3? Get a top 10 defense, and we can win games against Nebraska, ISU, MU, & Louisville by margins of 12-3.

Louisville will not be that good.
I for one am not scared at all.
Not because our team is great, but because their's isn't.
Yeah, Brohm and Bush truly suck, don't they?

Two people do not make up the entire team.
I'm with Poet Warrior on this one, although I'm more concerned because Louisville has been in their system longer than our guys and so it will be a test. I think talent wise, we match up well.
-

Their team may be a bit overrated. Is Louisville really a top ten team? Are they really a top twenty team? A lot of people thought so last year only to be proven wrong. If KSU is an average team, why wouldn't they be able to hang with a team that is good but not in the top twenty?

You're right, but those are two game breakers whereas you guys don't have any. Forgive me if I put a whole stack of bills on Louisville in this one.

i would classify jordy nelson as a game breaker and hopefully james johnson can be one as well.

Well no game breakers that we know of yet. Go ahead and put your stack of bills on Louisville. I'd wait though to see how the first few games go and what the odds are. My guess is, by the time the odds come out, you'll reduce that stack to a few and maybe not on Louisville.

Louisville will gain 425+ yards on us. We just need to create turnovers, and force them to pass 40+ times and we should be....OK.
It's a tough game, and I wish we didn't schedule it.
