Man, I used to play these games all the time.

I remember playing Clyde's adventures day after day.

It was Ultima on mac for me. Used at school and friends house. Those things were way overpriced at the time. I was commodore 64 man.

I have no idea what half of the games were called, but there was one in particular that I loved...it was something about making a castle before the barbs would come.  I lost almost every time.  you were supposed to balance the effort of getting your walls built, with the amount of money you paid your builders, with the amount you taxed your people, with the amount of people you kept on guard...

anyone have any ideas?  I'd like to play that game again and see if I can figure it out now.  It's been about 20 years.

I'm right there with you. Not that I know the game you're talking about, but I also remember the function of some old games I would play but have no clue what they are called.
