i saw the game in Waco against OSU so not much to report there. it was an ugly game. one of their guards had a career night to give them the edge against a team who hasn't won a road game since their coach got his DUI

i don't understand why your coaching comparison thread languished. i thought your "sweats honey" line was right up there with with chum's "goldfish" as one of the funniest things ever posted on ksufans.com.
of course, you removed the sweats honey thing.

Baylor has 5 excellent guards that aren't afraid to shoot any time at all. Carter, Dugat, Jerrels, Bruce, and Dunn could all go off for 20 in any given game. Offensively, Baylor has arguably the best guards in the conference.
Kevin Rogers is a decent to good power forward and their center position is non-existent as Lomers and Dienne offer nothing.
I think they are a pretty good team that could either shoot themselves into or out of any game.
As far as the OSU game for them. OSU is going to make everyone look bad b/c you have to watch their horriffic offense for half of the game.

Baylor will have no answer inside for Jones or Jordan.
For you really high BBIQ'ers why did a&m feed it to Jordan instead of Jones. I'm guessing poor coaching.

From what I can gather, this is as close to an AAU team (offensively) as you can get. They play at a pretty high pace and their plan seems to be to shoot the first good shot you can get (whether from the perimeter or on drives), and I suppose they have good enough shooters to make that work. This is highlighted by their assist rate (assists/FG makes) which is the worst in the Big 12 and one of the worst in the country, so most of their shots they create on their own individually and not in the midst of a complex offensive system. However, they're pretty efficient usuing this system and their big weaknesses appear to be hitting the glass (especially offense) and scoring from the FT line.
The thing that probably is keying them this year is that they have solid defensive numbers as well. If they can defend and rebound well they'll continue to be a tough team to beat if they're hitting shots. But they'll have some nights when the shots don't fall and they'll likely get drilled.

Yeah, they had to have some flaw in their plan or something that we took away that almost all their clearouts and isolations ended up being for Jordan or one of their other bigs. But part of the problem for Jones too was that he had to guard Walker all night and defend on the perimeter. May not seem like a big deal, but for a guy like him that can take away some of his rhythm and energy as he tries to defend in ways he doesn't have to very often. Walker really made him look bad defensively, reminded me of the match-up Cartier had against that very good big from OU his SO year when they had no answer before we gave that game away.

best defense against a good offensive big guy is to make him play very active defense. I learned that from Fran
