I dunno why, but they do. Their four guard lineup and their close losses scream "watch out" to me.
We have a decided advantage in the post, but we haven't been the greatest at defending behind the arc, and we're not as long as we were last year defensively.
I know we should win, but I can see a situation where CU shoots their way into a close game or even a win if our man defense isn't being executed well enough.
-
the 3-2 zone we've been playing lately has really slowed teams down. Hopefully Martin isn't hesitant to use that tomorrow.
I'm nervous as well, it's hard to break out of that K-State b-ball fan complex(when are we gonna eff up)
-
If Beasley gets in severe foul trouble or we come out flat with our guard let down, I'll be worried. Otherwise, we should be fine but I don't see it being a blow out. Something like an 8-9 point victory.
-
CU is a piece of crap. 20+ point victory.

I think we should "go big"
Kent, Colon, Billy, Beaz and Sutton.
Billy plays point, Beaz the 2, sutton the 3, Kent 4, Colon 5.

If CU is hot from outside we have a game. If they are throwing up crap and not getting the offensive rebounds we should win by 8-10.

BEST. SIG. EVER.

Can't shake the Wooly-itis!

The thing that scares me about this game is us. On paper or otherwise, no way CU can match-up with us and Beasley/Walker should combine for 50+. However, their weird style and the fact that they are CU may make it difficult for a young team to get completely ready , as has been talked about plenty before.
But numbers-wise, CU is pretty average at about everything and their bigs are very inexperienced besides King-Stockton; they only have 2 players over 6-6. This game will feature a huge contrast in styles as the Buffs tempo averages about 12-13 less possessions per game than we do. To me it will be about how we defend and if we can control the pace. If this is a game with under 60 possessions it will go down to the last minute. If we can get things going and run a bit and get this to be a 70 possession game, we probably win going away. It will probably be somewhere in the middle and how efficient we are on offense will dictate what we do, and really most teams with a pulse have had pretty good offensive numbers against CU. I don't see why we'd be any different with the way we've been playing lately.

Maybe, but I don't know what a crappy game is for this team right now. I don't expect us to play like we did in the 2nd half vs aTm, but I also don't expect the first half vs Xavier, not that CU is even close to capable of doing that to us anyway. The biggest fear is that we don't defend the perimeter well and allow CU to go off from 3, which IMO is really the only way they beat us.
Also, didn't know Charles Baker was on the CU staff. Good connection from the Wooly era, and I think it was he and/or Elgas that made several trips to Africa when times got desperate in the end.

CU has scored 75+ points only three times this year (Colorado Christian, Grambling State, Florida A&M).
KSU has scored under 75 points in only two games this year (Notre Dame, UCF).
It would take a miracle for us to lose this game.
-
I'm going to say kstate 83 to 72 :billypopcorn:
Waker will have a big game and Stewart will have 15 points :hope:

Excellent post. I agree it would take a miracle for us to lose the game.

Mentalo, will CU give K-State a good game, shooting out of their ass from 3?

IMO that's why pace is so important in this game. The only two teams that CU has played that come close to our pace are New Orleans and Wyoming, CU's worst 2 losses on the year as far as strength of opponent goes. Even UT and aTm were decent match-ups for CU b/c they don't play at near the pace we do.
It will be interesting to see if we can maintain the pace we play at (around 73 possessions per game) throughout Big 12 play through a lot more road games and against teams that mainly like to slow it down, though few slow it down as much as CU. It was good to see us perform as well as we did vs aTm in a game that featured the fewest possessions of any game we've played this year (62 possessions).

pullen has to come back to earth sometime. our shooting has to come back to earth sometime. our efficiency has to come back down to earth sometime. :runaway:
-
this is a classic 'trap game'... on the opponents court
yet another test to see if/how we have matured both as a well-prepared and well-coached team... with all the freshmen, it's risky to say, but i think we keep the intensity up and win by 15
only a poorly ref'd effort can hold us back

elgas recruited africa (and europe). i think you knew that baker landed at cu, but have forgotten.

Probably forgot. I thought Baker made some trips across the pond as well. Probably wrong. Again.

maybe. probably. wooly famously made at least one trip to france. elgas is the one i remember had primary responsibility for the foreign recruits (and for being friends with the atlanta coach whose school fell apart the year after wooly left).

This squaker at work, who's retarded, says that we haven't won at Colorado in 18 years!! When was the last time we won there?

We're due for a crappy game :ohno:
It'l come next Wednesay. Bank on it. :'(

Another thing that worries me is the game is mid-week, the crowd will probably be somewhat sparse and quiet and it could lull our guys to sleep and have them thinking CU is a pushover. Before you know it KSU could be in a dog fight in the final minutes that they aren't really up for and could end up like Nebraska a week ago. Colorado doesn't have the wins but they have been getting much better and that's a dangerous recipe to sneak up on someone if you add in the home court. KSU better be ready for a Big 12 road game.

Its all good.
"Our coach was telling us that Colorado will lull you to sleep because they don't have a loud crowd. He said it will seem like it's empty and seem like you're playing for no reason, but we still have to come out with the same energy as in the Oklahoma game and get a win." - KSU FR PG

in what venue did the ksu fr pg say that?
-
Makes you wonder if Frank's smart enough to pump quiet and disinterested through the Bram's sound system to help the team acclimate.

Frank isn't. Prince is. Please refer to our football fanbase for reference.

We improved so much, but we just couldn't get over the hump.
The last two years we felt we were one guy away. The record didn't indicated how much we improved.
We had so many close losses where the ball just didn't bounce our way, or, we weren't good enough in the last 30 seconds.
Wooly era.
