Frank Martin sounds dumb imo.
the writer made him look dumb by misquoting him. martin was trying to say "just watch these players now, enjoy their play, and wait till the end of the year to worry about where they get drafted". the writer added the parenthetical to his quote to make it appear he was saying they should be forced to stay in college.
very poor journalism.

Wow, you're right. I need to stop skimming phog.net.

Wait, maybe you're wrong?
"You know what I just said on our radio station back home? I said that is why that NBA rule absolutely stinks. We should be allowed to watch those two guys compete against each other, and play at a high level like they do. They should be able to come out here and just represent their schools like they do. Those two kids, both young puppies, to play the high level basketball that they play and lead their teams like they do; people should look into that and try to figure out a way to get the NBA out of our business."
-
maybe. it would be weird if i was wrong. it would be pretty inconsistent with his previous quotes on players leaving to go pro.
i suppose you could dislike the nba 1 year rule but still encourage players to use it to their advantage?

I'll give him a break. Sort of a heat of the moment comment. Of course he'd love to have Beasley more than one year, but when it comes down to it I'm sure he'll encourage him to go pro.

I agree...the particular quotes I remember were related to the new 3 point line and preparing players for the next level.

Yeah, I would think.

I've read that quote over and over again and I still can't figure out what the hell he's saying.

If Beasley and Griffin were in the NBA, we'd still be allowed to watch them compete against each other and play at a high level. It's just that they'd be compensated accordingly for giving us that privilege.

Frank Martin Show. 55:45. Makes a lot more sense.
