Can't keep cox, my par...err I can't pay 88 bucks a month for mediocrity.
So, which is better? I want a good dvr, the most sports in HD, and the most sports period for the cheapier. I don't care for sunday ticket.

DTV might have a few more sports channels. I went with Dish for the free (and superior) HD-DVR. I have to say the DVR is awesome--I still get ESPNU and CSTV. I don't get Fox College Sports, and that's the only thing I miss. We get NFL Network in HD. I say if you're not going to get Sunday Ticket, go for Dish. Dish is a little behind in HD channels right now, but they are adding them this year to catch up w/ DTV. You probably can't go wrong either way.

direct has free hd-dvr too. and there's absolutely no reason to go with dish over direct.

can you output to a PC?

Yeah the Dish DVR has a USB port--you can ship your stuff to any external HD. They do charge like $40 to turn it on, though.
