Title: and Freshman Oregon QB blowing away So. Florida...
Post by: The Manhatter on December 31, 2007, 04:03:33 PM
choose wisely, Harp.  You are not playing in front of Roper.

Prince = duel threat usage as UVa OC
Brock = duel threat usage as OC
Franklin = no duel threat history

forget Franklin...he never mattered.

thanks.

Very, very good argument....really isn't even an "argument."  Simply a presentation of facts that clearly reveal a good opportunity versus foolish dead-end pursuits.

Having said that, I think Oregon will be pretty good in the near future.  So, Harper could get a chance to have a really good seat to watch some great football games over the next 3 years if he chooses Oregon.

Wierd. That's exactly what I said about Ron last year at this time.  This year I didn't get a chance to.

KSU is a defense away from being a pretty good team.

To answer you question, just head over to Rivals and take a look at our commits on the defensive line...more specifically at DT.

it's hard to say but people go overboard.

Rutgers, for example, went from 55th in total defense and 59th in scoring defense in 2005 to #4 and #8, respectively in 2006.  Just one season.

A few more talented players here and more depth there and some more experience in a few areas.

It's the truth, as it relates to football...but maybe not as it relates to the depth of relationships with his second-cousins, distant aunts, next door neighbors...and whomever else in Chris' life Franklin conned.

As it relates to football?

Its odd that Franklin 'never mattered' but his offense was not a liability. Must have been doing something right(unlike the defense, which is apparently the only thing stopping Ksu from greatness.). Harper liked it enough for Franklin's O to be 75% of his reason to come.

Maybe it was Brock all along.

Well, the truth is the Franklin has never, ever coached a mobile quarterback.  That is fact, not an opinion.

Franklin wasn't the reason form some mild success on the offensive side of the ball.  In fact, our best performance were when Franklin was not calling the plays....they were when Franklin was gone at his mother's funeral and when Ron got pissed and started getting involved in play calling.

No one is questioning the notion that Harper loves Franklin...only questioning why the hell he would think Franklin is a good coach.  Maybe he doesn't?  Maybe Chris just thinks Franklin is his "buddy?"  Who knows.

I have no problem with Franklin being gone, aside from losing Chris....who I think would have been a great WR or SS for us at some point.

Throughout the entire season people were saying 'The offense is fine, the defense is the problem'. Franklin was the OC at K-state the whole year. So how can you turn around and say, after an entire season, that Franklin wasn't the reason for the mild success on the offensive side of the ball? You only point out one single game in which Franklin wasn't coaching as the reason that he sucked and yet everyone still agrees that the offense, all year, wasn't the problem.

That doesn't make any sense. The offense was fine all year and yet the offensive coordinator sucked. 'KSU is a defense away from being a pretty good team' and yet 'why the hell he would he think Franklin is a good coach' with an offense that is not included in the list of liabilities.

Franklin sucked, yet his(and it was his) offense was a high point of the team. Except that one game where he wasn't coaching which somehow equates to 'forget Franklin...he never mattered.'

Too much contradiction.

Too much contradiction.

No contradiction.  The improvement on offense was almost completely related to three things; 1)Healthy Jordy, 2) better OL, and mostly because of #2 --- 3) better James Johnson.   We still weren't "good," just not bad.

Where were you two years ago, and even as late as midyear this past year, when everyone including Hatter was ready to ditch Franklin?  Franklin, from a coaching perspective, is completely replaceable.  Franklin hasn't landed any recruits outside of Chris....and prolly will take him to Maryland.

NEVER has Franklin been thought of as the reason for any real success on offense....at least not by anyone who thinks anything beyond short slants to Jordy are workable.

The players like Brock more anyways.  He's a "players coach."

good job GoldBrick, I mean about the part trying to make us believe this was Franklin and Franklin only offense.

thanks.
