Not sure how you settle a three-way tie with a coin flip....
Either way, I like the idea of the Chefs taking Jordy at the top of the third round....that is if the Pats don't take him in the second round.

Carl just called "Teads"
-
Anyone can look at it and realize the Chiefs suck much worse than ATL and OAK. They should get the higher pick by default.
-
OK, all armchair Carl Petersons out there, who would you pick as the number 1 overall, provided the Chefs get that pick?

Jesus Christ is likely to not declare for the '08 draft, so I'd go with Matt Ryan. Tough to pass on a QB, especially when there are no OLs worthy of of a top 5 pick.

Chris Long.

So you're done with the Pride of Crimson Tide-nation, Mr Croyle.

I believe each person flips a coin at the same time, and the odd man out wins.

Chiefs need to draft the best player available, trade him for extra-picks in the later rounds, and then work from there.
A decent receiver in the 3rd or 4th couldn't hurt.
-
where is Jake Long projected to go?

Top 8. If the Chiefs want Long they should be able to get him with out trading up, I don't think any other team except for may St. Louis would take an OL.

The Chiefs will get either the 4th or 5th pick. Because of some tie-breakers, Oakland will be ahead of the Chiefs regardless. If the Jets win the flip, then the Jets will pick 3rd, Oak - 4th, and Chiefs 5th. If Oakland wins the flip, they will pick 3rd, the Chiefs 4th, and the Jets 5th.

That is not completely correct...but you are right about KC getting either the 4 or 5 spot....
The NFL announced that the Chiefs will have the fourth or fifth pick in April’s draft.
The first pick will go to Miami, 1-15, and the second to St. Louis, 3-13.
Then come the Falcons, Raiders and Chiefs, teams that finished 4-12 and tied in the strength of schedule factor. The Jets, who also had a 4-12 record, will pick sixth because they played a stronger schedule, one of the determining factors in the draft order.
The Falcons, Chiefs and Raiders all had the same strength of schedule. Because the Chiefs finished third in the AFC West with a better record in common games over the Raiders, Oakland will draft ahead of them.
So the Falcons and Raiders will flip a coin for the third spot. If Atlanta wins, it will pick third followed by Oakland and Kansas City. If Oakland wins the toss, then the Chiefs and Falcons will flip for the fourth spot.

I'd put DT there, but I put DT there every year regardless of who they currently have at DT. They are a form of currency in the NFL.

agreed, we need 2 OL, a DT, a CB for sure. getting a WR and a QB would be nice too.
-
i wish kietz would get off of his, "We need to draft a Manning/Brady" schtick. he seems to think the #1 qb taken each year develops into one of them.
-
Mike and Mike discussed this topic awhile ago. Peyton Manning and Vince Young were pretty much the only two quarterbacks drafted in the top 5 (maybe even 1st round all together) that they thought were worth it. You don't have to draft a good quarterback in the first round..
-
Why waste a pick on a QB? So we have a really talented guy to hand it off? This coaching staff would make Manning and Brady look average. Aside from offensive linemen, the Chiefs should draft strictly defensive players. They are already overly talented at the offensive skill posistions for this conservative, defense first coaching staff. Herm's philosophy is don't lose the game on offense. Why go after a bigtime QB so he can hand it off twice and throw a 5 yard route on 3 and long?

my nightmear is having mcfadden availible, you know carl would pick him
-
If Carl could he would take in the next 3 drafts, Aquib Talib, Chase Daniel, and Josh Freeman. That way he could take ku/MU/KSU fans that come to Arrowheads money. Carl isn't staying because he is a brilliant GM, its because he has made the Hunts a crapload of money.
-
if they are available, i wouldn't mind picking up jordy nelson in the 4th round and that mcclinton guy for ku in the 6th or 7th. i think in those would both be solid picks in those rounds.

But he's not from UCLA......if he was from UCLA it would be a done deal
