Title: Torrent Files
Post by: PurpleReign on December 27, 2007, 05:56:41 PM
I am downloading torrents but I can only get about 20 kb/s.  I have tried opening ports, but it didn't seem to help much.  I am using BitTorrent right now so do any of you know what else I should be doing/using to get my performance up.

It's also possible that you are not connected to all the seeds or that all of you seeds just have that bad of a connection.

Along with port block and slowing from ISPs, you also have the people poisoning your connection as well.

If you can or have access to it, newsgroups is the way to go.

Well, the safepeer plugin on Azureus runs off of some online database of IPs from record companies, RIAA, and other people you don't want looking at your downloads and constantly updates on it's own.  You install it and it updates without your doing anything.  This was really the selling point for Azureus for me though uTorrent may have the same thing.  I can't tell by your link (again, steve dave<not good at computers)

Anyone ever use peer guardian while you're downloading torrents?

I use Peer Guardian2 with utorrent. Works well. PG2 messes up with Steam, so I have to disable it when I feel like playing some TF2.

You guys just need to download off of private trackers, and you are good, plus they require members to keep a share ratio so almost everything has seeders

I don't DL'd music, but I also don't believe that for a second.

They once sued a dead guy because he dld music when he was alive

First off, private trackers are not immune. Ask OiNK members. Second, they are kinda hard to come by. I tried to get into private trackers for HD movies for a couple weeks.

Lately I've been ripping youtube downloads; don't always get the best of quality; but it's easier to find obscure recordings.

Nothing is 100% safe, but really they aren't that hard to get into

Of course even some private sites still use public trackers like piratebay, etc.
