Never played WoW.

I've read all 4 of Tolkien's books from the series.  It's the only fantasy books I've read.

There are many movies stripped from books and just completely butchered - like Patriot Games, The Lost World, etc.  The LotR trilogy was NOT one of them.  Jackson did a tremendous job translating the story onto the screen.  Of course there are parts that were left out or altered slightly, but not at the expense of the original story.

Patriot Games was fairly similar. It just read better. The Godfather was a much better movie than book (One of the few occurances).

Fellowship was amazingly like the book, the next 2 took more liberties but that trilogy is amazing.  The books were pretty awesome too, and I hate fantasy.

totally logical argument, especially from an internet message board junkie.

Did you guys mean The Sum of all Fears?  That was a Tom Clancy book that was butchered when it went to movie form.

This movie coming out -- they realized there were hundreds of millions of dollars still to rake in.

Other than completely rearranging a few plotlines with some of the characters and destroying the ending, yeah it was close.

Meh.

Wake me when they make the Silmarillion movie.

Actually, I couldn't get more than 3 or 4 pages into that thing.

Pointless, considering Silmarillion will just put you back to sleep again.
