I saw it on Friday. Now, I've seen both original movies based on the same book (Last Man on Earth and Omega Man), so I can't help but compare the two. I thought I am Legend was pretty good. It had some of Smith's best stuff. It was a little different role for him. There were two things about this movie I didn't like. First, the monsters. The Last Man on Earth had monsters that were able to communicate. They were mutated humans that devolved into an animal with basic instincts. In I am Legend, they were poorly crafted CG boogey men that only served to jump out of dark spaces. They were brainless animals except for one scene that was clever, yet out of place. Finally, the ending was lack luster. It stayed true (partially) with the originals, but since the mutants can't talk, it seriously lost a lot of meaning (In the original, the lone survivor who is simply trying to stay alive is thought of as a fabled vampire killer within the vampire society, presenting the viewer with an intriguing dichotomy that lame reviewers would undoubtedly think has to do with Iraq).

All right, just got back. All in all, pretty good. Definitely creepy if you think about it. Last 90 sec's totally blew. Will Smith did a nice job in delivering 90% of the
diamonologue reminiscent of Tom Hanks' movie where he shouldered the load. Substitute a German Shephard fo a volleyball and you get the drift.

Worth seeing, especially with an easily scared girlfriend/wife, at the movies. A cannot miss if you wait for the rental.

I saw the movie as well the other day, as hard as it seems some of the stuff ($6.30 gas), is pretty believable.
I really liked the movie.

Solid flix I would go see it for sure.

Particularly if we get a lefty in the next election. They all want to slap huge taxes on the oil companies and suck the rest of the lint out of your wallets with carbon taxes or those outrageous cap-and-trade programs. :yuck:

Holy carp you guys have frack'n ADD, get the frack back on topic! :chainsaw:

Ok fatty f f, saw 28 Weeks Later tonight, not bad. I'm guessing another one will be made in a city with a big antenna-looking thing. I enjoyed this one but won't see the next (if they make one).

How was the Batman preview that plays before I Am Legend?
-
meh, didn't impress much. I don't think this Joker looked as good as Jack. Tough act to follow though. I'll probably wait for the rental.
-
I am Legend is terrible. I didn't realize it was going to be some sci fi dawn of the dead flick going in. I could have handled it but the ending was horrible. I might have given it an "ok" if it weren't for the ending. Also, the dog being strangled didn't need to happen either.

PS. Gary Oldman, Christian Bale, and Michael Caine are some of the best actors out there.

Nice try, but I'm salaried my friend. I get a third taken out so we can go kill some Iraqis and Americans to spread our democracy.
P.S. It spreads somewhat like this: crap hitting fan
You are right (if you're rich) about them cutting your taxes, though.

I am Legend was OK. Downloaded it two days ago. Another zombie flick. Definitely not worth the money to see it in theaters.

If you're in a position in which someone else is allowed to withold from your income stream you're doing the whole American Dream thing wrong. And 1/3?!? So if you're in Kansas that's like 7% to the state and 7.65% to FICA which would put you in about the 15% bracket which pretty much confirms my suspicions that you're deadweight and aren't earning enough to be paying your fair share yet. :violin:

Just because I'm serving society and not myself... I'm doing my best to make the world better. That's how I pay back. You're obviously the selfish asshole kind that only serves himself. So, the government has to make you give. Have no fear, though. They're using it to kill people so that should make you happy.

I remember none of this from the movie.

Never ceases to amaze me how hostile you self-righteous do-gooders often are. If you really want to help the "less fortunate" start a business and hire a bunch of them so that they can get their lives together and be productive members of society. After a short time managing just such a zoo you'll quickly come to realize that quite a few of the "less fortunate" are really less willing, some are simply less capable, and others both less willing and less capable. Do-gooders who provide handouts, particularly from the government, only enable these people to continue failing their way through life.

Don't assume what I believe, my friend. I'm as much of a GDI than anything. It's idiotic that there are only two political parties in the first place. And if anything, I DO deal with the "less-willing" and "less-capable" and constantly remind them what a joke they are. I know the enablers and those that take advantage of them. Yet, I'm the one actually trying to do something about it and recognize those who have the potential, drive, yet find the American Dream as an American Joke. I'm the (un)happy medium between the enablers and those that do everything they can to keep certain classes in certain places regardless of dreams and drive. And you are? Oh yeah, serving yourself only.
