Title: Mitchell Report
Post by: QuinnMac on December 13, 2007, 10:00:52 AM
Good thing MLB hired a former Senator to tell me Roger Clemens, Miguel Tejada, and others took steriods.

This has completely blindsided me.

That report should have been titled:

"The Mitchell Report

Fire is Hot, Water is Wet, and Lots of Big Name Players Use Roids."

This is no surprise to anyone since the players union fought drug testing for years and years.

No doubt.  The funny thing is that there are going to be so many people that think whatever list they come out with are the ONLY ones who took/are taking them.  There have been hundreds of them doing it for some time now.  I remember reading an ESPN the magazine article about 6-7 years ago that was basically saying MLB players have no reason not to take them since there were no testing requirements and no rules against it.  This is not limited to 80 players.  Their testing policy is/has been laughable.

That was a rumor from deadspin.com.  Looking at the actual report shows only a few of those names on it, but still may ex-Royals (Grimsley era).

actually I used the list already posted and then scanned the report the names begin around p. 160 from there I just used the down page button and scanned.  All the player names are bolded and underlined

I don't see Damon's name on any of the condensed list, such as ESPN

Should I now burn my long sought-after Gregg Zaun rookie card?

Sounds like the Bud wants to crack down on this stuff for real.  They really need to just say flat out that anyone caught using HGH will be banned for life.

I can't say i'd argue with that, the players know they have been breaking the law for years now, it needs to come to an end.

Brady Anderson?  You mean guys the avg 10-12 HRs every year don't just hit 52 one year naturally?

Daryl Kile- what did they say was his cause of death?  I'm curious if roid use contributed much.  (You gotta figure it didn't help at all, but I wonder if it was a major factor)

Pretty sure it was described as heart failure

Roids were probably a relatively tame substance for Ken Caminiti

Professional athletes in their early 30's don't typically die of heart failure.  I'd assume it was either something congenital, or the roids and probably amphetimenes/cocaine did him in.  Isn't that what they attribute Caminiti's death to?

Let's see how long the writers' hard stance on not voting players who used steriods during "the chemical era"(where did that come from?) into the Hall.
