Title: Linebackers question
Post by: opcat on November 13, 2007, 02:59:48 PM
Why can't they tackle?  This has nothing to do with the poor dline.

Coaching?

They are not in good positions to tackle, tackle is about being in good position, when you are over running plays or having to try and cover more than your assignment you see alot of missed tackles.

I asked a couple days ago if anyone knew if we went full pads and live in practice or if we went half shelfs and 3/4's.  If we go the latter, I won't put our poor tackling all on that by any means, but it would be a factor, imo.  I'm sure there are programs that don't go full tilt and tackle well, but imo, one day you should, irregardless of your depth.

All you need to know right there.  We are undersized at the MLB spot too IMHO, but we need the speed this year from those who have it.

LB play is also dictated by dline play, and that is part of what I meant by positioning, and jordy's comments about guys not doing the right thing all makes sense.  Lb's are over playing, secondary is then overplaying because our Dline is flat out getting beat.
