Are you f-ing kidding me.  You just read my mind (which just exploded).  I was about to ask "what is that song in assassins creed commercial" but realized it was too tardish and just started a thread only on assassins creed.  Looks like a must-have game.

The game looks very good, but I probably won't be playing it unless a friend buys it and let's me borrow it. I usually stick in the sports and FPS genres anyway. I'm waiting for College Hoops 2K8 to drop personally, also COD 4 is worth your $60.

I don't celebrate anything bad now.  When Jeron Mastrud almost took it all the way last year vs. ku, I yelled at old people in the handicapped section.  Looking back, I attribute our bad luck to that.

IGN gave Assassin's Creed what they call a "good" review. 7.7 out of 10 on the 360 and 7.5 on the PS3.  Worth $60 I don't know, I will have to rent it and form my own opinion on it.

It's the theme song to "House."  At least the first 16 bars are used as the intro.

edit: assuming the first video song is what you are talking about as familiar.

i haven't had any problems.  the guitar for Rock Band is darn near the normal size.

picking up my reserved copy of Rock Band today

I used my lunch break to get mine and unpack everything.  It was like Christmas, except my parents never got me drums.

I'm not sure if I'll like the new guitar yet; the strum has no click to it, so it feels mushy.

If you have a GH guitar already, you can look at this as GH4, with a better career mode and more downloadable songs.

I wouldn't.  GH3 is pretty much the top of the mountain for just guitar play right now. As a matter of fact, having played the Rock Band guitar/demo, I can safely say that the guitar isn't as fun to play as in GH3/2.  What makes this game so much fun is the team/group based play.  It's going to be a blast on weekends with friends.

Nice.  Yeah Best Buy had the demo set up for a few weeks.  The guitar definately takes some getting used to, the strum bar actually is more sensitive than the GH3 one, and it takes some time to get used to it.  I think the game itself is actually easier than GH3.

I wouldn't complain if you're right.  I'm still new to the series (bought GH3 before 2), but I'm stuck in that zone where I'm too good for Medium yet haven't been able to take that next step.  I watch people playing on Expert and :crybaby:.

the best way to go from medium to hard in gh2 is to use the practice mode set on Hard difficulty, and slow down the rhythm.  this will let you learn to use the orange button and get your hand used to that setting.  once you pick that up you will not have much of a prob moving to hard.

I tried out the drums for Rock Band at Best Buy -- that part of the game alone is enough to get me to buy it eventually.

Still don't have GH3 though.  I've pretty much mastered GH2 on medium and can pass the first 10 or so songs on hard, but can't even come close on expert.
Title: Re: video game nerds

Title: Re: video game nerds
Post by: The Whale on November 20, 2007, 04:15:01 PM
On expert, I can consistently make it to about 92% on Mother.  Other than that song though I wind up around 25% on everything else. : :'(

Trying to move down levels from expert or hard to medium really screws up timing though

I was hoping that's what it was but it wasn't.
I calibrated last night and it helped a ton so I wasn't getting boo'd off stage every song, but there's still some strange lag. It's a setting on my tv I think, although GH2 doesn't lag like this.  I've got to play with the settings and figure it out.

the graphics were pretty good, i just couldn't really get into it.  it's pretty hard to fly the aircraft but you pick it up after a while.  I guess I didn't like not being able to cut on a corner to pursue the jets and tanks you're trying to shoot down, it's more like chess in the sky, but since i don't really like playing chess as a video game it's just kinda boring to me.

i can see how it'd be a fun game but just not for me.  again, the graphics are 1080p and very cool  :excited:

Bullsh*t.  My nerd cred is unassailable.  Gaming becoming mainstream is wonderful.  Bigger audiences draw bigger investment.  Ambitious projects like Rock Band don't happen 10 years ago.  Hell, these days you can even mention something like a Guitar Hero in a social setting and not get laughed out of the room.  Usually.

Your stance reeks of indie rock snob:  If it's on the radio, it must suck!

I am sadly disappointed in the drum set...

First of all--it looks like e-drums...yuk
Secondly--no 'tom' where the snare goes? WTF--I don't even know how to play drums if the snare isn't between my legs...that's f' up.  I'm sure I could play if I had to, but christ...did anyone do research before they put out this set?  Do they really want me to play a 'high-hat' with my left hand?  fug that.  :bs: :bs:
