If he had an OL? He really has had only one really bad half (baylor) the rest of the games he has played pretty well. He was on his back 90% of the time vs nu, and bc the OL sucks he has to throw quick outs every play.
Its scary to think about.

If Garcia is the real deal I think it having a solid tackle will do wonders, maybe move alesana inside or to the right side would help alot.

I sat in the endzone for the NU game, so you get a perfect perspective on the line play. Holy God. In the 1st quarter the people around me were begging for deep balls to be thrown, by the 3rd quarter everyone shutup because they all realized our line couldn't block. On nearly every play you would see a lineman get beat and just turn around. It was sad. And it didn't help that every shotgun snap was just awful.
We can't run block either. But why is the line this bad?

i could imagine how amazing he would be if he were .. well ... uuhhh ... ummmm ... could even be called average to begin with.

Sat there too (prob sat next to you) and on the 2 long balls to murphy that he missed badly people were all pissed that he missed him. I then said look where freeman is at...on his back. He had no time to throw all day. When he had time (typically on roll outs) he was nails.
-
there were at least 3 deep balls that were wide open had Josh had time to step into it. Our oline cannot deal with stunts and blitzes whatsoever.

you nailed it. they sh1t their pants at the sight of a stunt.
-
any time a team runs a DT/End twist, both guys come free. ku did it in their nickle sets and Nu did it at will.
-
Freeman actually played much better than he looked. I held my breath on several of his throws because he put the ball right where it needed to be, despite usually being on the run, and your receiver didn't catch it.
I still think Freeman is fine. This thread is correct...he desperately needs protection on the O-line.
-
Freeman to Jordy is one of the top duos in the nation.
Frack you OL specialist RP. :crybaby:

The stunt pick ups are puzzling to me. People always talk about the last play vs. ku and that was a simple tackle end twist that every high school teams runs and every high school o-line practices. It's not that hard to recognize or pick up and somehow with the game on the line our guys failed to recognize it and turned both guys lose. We're now 10 games into the season and we're still struggling to pick up simple stunts high school teams can pick up.
-
I have NEVER seen NU use stunts, twists and blitzing like they did yesterday. Freeman was getting it from all angles. On some of the long throws my heart began to flutter. If he has a second or 2 longer, he completes those passes.
Hey Fatty, what you think of Lincoln, being it your first game at NU?
-
that is true, but Viers and Lui are two of the guys that consistantly get beat by this and they are both new.

They were also getting swam and being put off balance. No footwork at all. I was VERY shocked with KSU's poor O Line footwork and technique.

that's what happens when you are on your heels from the first snap because you have no confidence.

Do you think a decent O-Line would help the fact that he continues to lock onto receivers as soon as he takes the snap? We've known for 2 years that this O-Line would suck, Freeman's downside makes it too easy to lay all of the blame on the O-Line and not hold him responsible for being so much less than he could have been. Yes he's only a sophomore but next year you and others like you will be saying, "but... we don't have a line, at least he has one more year." The bell tolls twelve for Josh Freeman and Ronald Prince.

You listen to the crappy VS. announcers too much. Freeman has been fine heck look at his stats from yesterday and tell me he was the reason why we lost. Against ISU the Vs. guy kept talking about the mistakes Freeman made by locking onto Jordy but those were just dumb comments neither interception was even intended for Nelson.
Freeman hasn't been perfect but he's played well enough in most game. Thrown a few too many picks but that is what happens when you get behind and throw the ball every down. They always like to give Josh's stats in the games we win vs. the games we lose to show the contrast in turnovers. But in just about every one of those games we fell behind got desperate and then the turnovers came. Josh's turnovers are not causing us to fall behind the falling behind and putting ourselves in bad situations are causing the turnovers.

He had a pretty darn good game despite, locking onto recievers all game.

Legore,
I would agree with you if it were only the Versus guys that noticed Freeman's tendencies. However, everyone broadcast team that has announced our games this year along with Wyatt and Stan on radio have picked up on his trend. I decided to go back and watch as much film of you Joshua that I could find and guess what... 90% of the time he locks onto his primary receiver after her takes the snap. Not a good thing at any level of football.

BS, When he is given time he surveys the field very well. However when he has time for 3 step drops he's only got time for 1 guy.

The Truth it is hard to go through your progressions when you have a d-lineman / linebacker on you a 1/2 second after the snap. Do to our o-line JF doesn't have even have half the time of other qbs to check down through receivers unless you count running for your life directly after the snap as time to read routes.
-
Ahhhhh I don't agree but I respect your opinions. I just don't think Freeman can ever live up to all the hype and I'm just as much to blame for the hype.
-
Freeman can certainly imagine it.

once nebraska realized they could line up a nose tackle over viers and beat his ass, the game was over, read during kstates third offensive possession.
