Title: Does everyone really think this game will be a blowout?
Post by: tmramrod91 on November 09, 2007, 03:41:06 PM
A lot of the people I've spoken to seem to think it will be, as well as some "other publications."
I just dont see it. NU really doesnt like KSU, and despite their brutal record they do have quite a bit of talent. I'm hopin they cash it in, but being senior day I can see the 'skers playin with some pride.
methinks it'll be a good one, cats pull away in the 4th.

KSU-37
NU-28

I think it's a 3-point game, either direction.   :ohno:

It's certainly capable of being a blowout.   This NU team has only shown up about twice in it's last 6 games or so.   I don't think some understand the level of football they are playing up there.  They give up 265 yards a game on the ground everyone complains about our run D and we give up about 150.  Their defense has only forced 5 turnovers in conference play to contrast our defense has forced 20.  Turnovers could kill us but to make turnovers against this team we're going to have to literally just drop the ball and hand it to them because they don't take it away from anyone.

34 - 13

No doubt in my mind

I don't see how the ksu defense will stop NU.  They have a physically dominating offensive line, a very solid pass catching RB, and a very good WR.  I think NU scores at least 35.  KSU will need to play almost mistake-free to be in this game.  A couple turnovers for us or a special teams play would help.  The d needs to play with their hair on fire.
NU has not quit.  They have played very high quality competition.  They are a lot better than their record.  Who would have thought that USC would be the third or fourth best team they have played so far.

I agree with all of this.  But, other than TX who we beat by 20, what is the average score of those games?  They lose BIG when they lose.  We lose when we shouldn't but are always in it.

I think they will beat us handily.  It will be suprising.

I think ksu could lose big, too.  it's very unfortunate that ksu gave away wins at ISU and OSU.  A NU loss would be acceptable if we had those wins in our pocket.  Now people will really begin to pile on ksu and create a very negative image around the program that won't be good for recruiting.  not to mention we get Mizzou next weekend which could be another blowout.  Things could go down the crapter very fast because of those 2 previous losses that ksu could not afford.  I will be VERY proud of this team if they find a way to win this game.  I actually think it would be a huge win as well as a clear upset.
I don't want to hear what will happen after NU wins.

Hmmm, we gave up 31 points and made one of the worst, if not the worst, offensive teams in the country look like the Indianapolis Colts last week in a loss.  And that was with our only legitimate DT for most of the game.

If there is one thing that this K-State defense has proved this year is that they CANNOT stop a mobile quarterback.

K-State is set to be shredded today by Ganz.  Think Zac Robinson all over again.

Frankly, I think Nebraska scores at least 40.  We end up losing somewhere in the range of 43-27.

the defense needs to play like this game is for the national championship.  And even then, I believe they will give up 35.
Turnovers are the key for ksu to stay in the game.

you guys are kind of out there with your predictions.  Anything can happen but the stuff you guys are saying isn't backed up by anything that either team has done on the field up to this point in the season.  KSU has the clear advantage in this game in almost every catagory.  No matter how you want to look at it; stats, head to head scores vs. common opponents, win loss record etc everything is in KSU's favor.  All this talk about NU's dominant o-line and that kind of stuff is just fiction they have not dominated anyone since the Nevada game.

Nubb put up 40 on the road last week against a very stout ku defense.  And yes, their defense is good.  Very good.

Purify had over 100+ last week and will be big against us today.  He's too big and physical for our pussy corners and safeties.

The fact that we cannot stop the run or generate any sort of pas rush without blitzing is not a good combination with a QB that is as mobile as Ganz.  The guy is also accurate and makes good reads as evidence of last week.

The only way I see us winning today is with a couple big special teams plays and forcing some turnovers in the red zone.  We are actually two very evenly matched teams and I give the advantage to NU on the road in a game for pride with their seniors.  Yes, we are 7 point favorites, but we were also 13 point favorites last week.

IF they force some turnovers and get up early, I actually believe they might blow us out.  If we win, it will be by a narrow margin and Freeman will have to have a highlight reel day.  Our defense is that pathetic.

NU also gave up 76 or whatever it was to ku last week and the great Joe Ganz threw 4 interceptions. You're basing all your prediction off of one game which while they did score some points they were not even competitive.  Some games just turn into track meets for the offenses which is what happened last week and NU lost that track meet big time.   For all this talk about Ganz's great running ability he had 11 yards on 5 carries in the game.  He's somewhat mobile but he's far from a great ahtlete and they don't even  like to use a QB run game.   If you lose contain he can get out of the pocket and maybe pick up a first down or something but he's not going to shred anyone on the ground like you predict.  It's just not going to happen for a couple of reasons.

1. He's not that good of a runner
2. It's not even part of what NU tries to do on offense.  They probably have a couple of QB runs in the game plan for Ganz but it's a minor part of the offense.

for all the talk about turnovers here is another stat:
turnover margin
KSU + 1.5 per game 2nd in big 12
NU - 1.83 per game 11th in big 12

Could it end up being the other way around?   Sure anything can happen but people are acting like it's probable we'll lose the TO battle in this game and get blown off the field.  I'm not sure what they are basing that on NU does neither a good  job of forcing turnovers or protecting the football.  KSU has forced more turnovers then any team in the league and has protected the ball far better then NU as well.

Like I was saying.  We have one pussy defense.

I honestly wonder if some of you actually watch these games.
