They were very good, we were very close and I was very sweaty.

what about the show?

what about the show?

They sounded clean, crisp, did a good cover of Dire Straits, not a lot of messing around but just playing.

Also, off the Killers topic, Robert Randolph puts on a good show.  Really plays with the crowd well.  Not the hugest fan of his music but really good live.

buffet shows are awesome. the closest thing to an actual festival atmosphere. just make sure you have plenty of time to party before the show.

revrend horton heat also kicks ass live

bob dylan is too old, but you might as well see him if you get the chance. his ticket prices aren't too bad so it is probably worth the money.

GWAR, Danzig... you've been to some pretty heavy hitters my friend. i had an opportunity to see GWAR a last year, but didn't have the money. not that i like their music, but i think it would be absolutely hilarious/entertaining to see.

The owner of Grinders in the Crossroads was a member of GWAR.

The great part about seeing them was when I saw them, back in the 80's, before Gatorade and MTV sponsored "punk" concerts and it was still scary as hell to go see those shows.

FWIW, Danzig is playing at Liberty Hall tonight in Lawrence.  My ex-gf's best friend dated (in the true sense of the word, not the groupie thing) Glen Danzig for like a year.

I was scared when I was 15 at the Pantera/White Zombie show.

A bunch of crazy, ripped skinheads beating each other up in the pit.  :ohno:

Yeah, the Outhouse in Lawrence, which is now that BYOB strip club I think, didn't really have security or anything.  The skinheads were some pretty scary cats.

probably the greatest stage show out of the choices, not the best musicaly but ballsy
all the concerts i've been to the croud sucked, i've allways been a bit jellous of any one of KISS's audiences

The fad didn't last long, for me anyway, but at the time it was awesome.   The group I was with camped out in front and were somewhere just outside the first ten or so.   That's what about got me killed.  By the time they opened the doors there were thousands, and when they opened them, oh man.

Ah, which reminds me of another I've seen, Ted the madman Nugent.  That concert it was freezing cold and they would not let us in when they'd said they would because we were chanting/screaming "OPEN THE F"ING DOORS" over and over.  Asswipes.

That is the concert that Larry Lumonyon(sp?), the police chief of Wichita sent out his guys in riot gear and basically did everything he could to insight a riot.  Dragging people off the floor for smoking pot, etc..  It was a tense scene.  There had been a riot at an outdoor concert in a park......dang, used to remember its name.....anyway, there were families in attendance and some people had parked their cars on a section of grass, good ole Lumonyon shows up with his troops in riot gear and proceeds to tear-gas the crowd.  People running, screaming, kids crying and wandering around for their parents getting gassed.   Some folks got away and were running into the houses around there and the cops would go in after them, drag them out and beat them.  Ugly history.  There were bumper stickers made up that were on about half the cars in town that said, "ignorance is believing the solution to a parking problem is tear-gas".   Anyway, wheee, history lane.

spring 99 or 00 was when i saw them. the tour had a blimp flying around kemper and jon davis rose up like 15 ft on a platform from under the stage while playing the bagpipes. tour artwork had a wierd gumbi looking stuffed doll on the shirts and stuff.
