We tell opposing teams they suck, Nebraska fans tell their own team they suck. There definitely is a difference b/w the two fanbases.

Remember Just like AJ on HuskerH8er said, this is the same fanbase and administration who has welcomed NU fans storming the court after say winning a b-ball game against ku, but acted shocked and horrified when MU fans stormed the field in Columbia after beating NU.   The same fanbase that gets all high and mighty when grandpa cornhole gets his corn hat stolen at a game, but thinks a kid deserved getting smacked in the nose by a corn player.

They're the biggest pussies in college sports.

Do you think Bennett may have gotten into his face because Matt "only scored one TD at NU" Davison was possibly chirping a little on the field and at KSU's bench??

who's matt davidson?

Matt Davison was the great white hype local boy that played for nubb who made a circus catch to beat MU in 1998.

Matt probably thought there was interference by Carter on their last play.  But I'm sure Matt didn't say a word about it though.

"We call it strip and plug, and boy, did Shoddy plant him," K- State defensive coordinator Phil Bennett said.

He had to have been talking about Bennett. He must have been thinking about the 2000 loss, not the '98 loss (man, we own Nebraska). Bennett was the one with misfortune to have happened to him a year or so later.

But didn't the coach that supposedly do this go through some sort of tragedy? Don't know of any tragedies that happened to those two. In fact, the only tragedy I know of happening to a coach was Bob Elliot's wife dying in that freak lightening strike.

I don't think bennett was with us in 98.

He said the game in the snow, Quincy Morgan, etc. , which was 2000, not 1998.

My bad.  I blame being forced to live in Nebraska for virtually all of the DOD.

That was right after they moved to Manhattan.  Bennett hadn't coached a game yet, so he couldn't have gotten in davison's face then have a tragedy happen.

Bennett's wife being killed was one of the reasons he wanted to go to SMU.  Her family was from Houston and he is really close with her parents.

These comments were made because Big Gred doesn't know how to lose gracefully; they aren't aware that their fans are no different than anyone else's and they're mad because they can't count on being able to buy tickets at BSFS anymore.

He probably just later found out that the guy had misfortune. Seriously, what other coach of ours has had misfortune? I'm sure he just was confused, maybe even talked bad about him until someone was like "hey man, don't talk bad about that guy, his wife died in a freak lightning accident" (what a dick)

I believe he's referring to Jim Gush, who's wife had cancer and was on KSU's staff from 1995-2001.   He went with Bennett because the medical facility could care for his wife.   If I'm not mistaken, she passed away a couple years ago after battling it.

I thought it was Stoops or Venables, but I remember Gush going with Bennett because of that reason.

Yeah, I completely forgot about Gush. He's still at SMU, his son has a scholarship offer to player there. I know their son.. played pop-warner with him.

His daughter was pretty cool but the mom is/was a raging bitch.  Truly not a good person.

Gush wasn't in Manhattan until 99 (same time as Bennett - after the defections, Rex Ryan, etc.)  Was at GCCC before that.

Matt Davidson popped off at the KState bench when he made a big catch on 3rd down in the 3rd quarter.

Was it Greg Peterson?  Wasn't one of his kids retarded or something happened to one of his kids?  He's also from Nebraska so that would explain how Davidson would've found out about something happening to his family.

Haven't been many good stories like this post 2000.

QFT.  I'd say since 2002, though.  I think it might have something to do with the University trying to make the student section completely sober and the fact that our defense has basically been a bunch of FP's since that time.  I think having a good/great defense makes the crowd louder/nastier.  Definitely haven't been as unclassy/asshole-ish as we could be.  I think the crowd in basketball could get that way this year, at least I'm hoping so.  The cryastal clear "dead beat daddy" chant was a good start.
