LOL. Great f-ing post.

Travis Ochs
Rod Eckler

Travis Ochs
Third best LB on the team his Sr. year
-
The reason our LB's were good back then is because they wore huge shoulder pads. Our current LB's play like their shoulder pads.....small and scrawny.
Jeff Kelly

He indeed was. Doesnt mean I still cant like him :'(
I got to meet him and Dirk at their family's house....it was glorious (although i was like 9 at the time...)
-
I like Josh Buhl - he was undersized but nobody told him that... he played like a madman. He continually led the team in tackles, talk about a nose for the ball.

No, clearly you can still like him. I also like him (for tearing Crouch's head off and being clever enough about it to not get caught lol). He was pretty likable and servicable for a lot of years. I think when he graduated he had played for us about 9 seasons give or take.

He would be the best LB on this years team.
Dirk would be the best DE as well.

QFT. Remember when linebackers wore those neckbrace thingys behind their heads. Any linebacker who wore one of those was unstoppable.

Which is better?
A. LB gloves (black) with no fingers
B. Neck roll/cowboy collar/etc.
C. Elbow/Forearm pads

and taped fingers. Roland is pretty close to looking the part. But he couldn't hold any of those guys' jocks.

Agreed but he has been a pleasant suprise so far compared to last year

what about percel gaskins and brooks barta, they should have made the list

I would rank them thus:
Mark Simoneau
Terry Pierce
Josh Buhl
Jeff Kelly
Ben Leber
I am very biased towards 2002. That year we were really good. I think Jeff Kelly is probably better than Buhl, but Buhl was a tackling machine and I remember his era better. Buhl/Hickman were exposed after Pierce left, but I think it was more Hickman and Buhl was relegated to D.Sproles "wtf everyone?" 2004 status. Leber I'm very meh about.
-
Pierce, he held together the last true lynch mob team.
-
Simoneau was probably the best, but how can you not love Ochs for attempted murder in front of 50k witnesses and getting away with it? :notworthy:

Simonvowel's Texas '99 game is a classic. Just an all-around performance for the ages. I remember Bill Snyder saying that before looking at the tape it was probably the closest thing to a perfect, assignment sound game that he'd ever seen.

Definetley The Cowboy Collar it should be mandatory issue to all of our LB's.

I wish someone would vote for Ben Leber. I just kinda feel sorry for him.

Hooray for parade all-americans that didn't Janet-ize.

No, Sims and Butler were the weak links there
-
Butler :flush:
-
Marvin Simmons had a tackle in 2003
-
member' when the 2000 linebackers were considered total garbage?
:'(
-
I can't believe you guys didn't mention the ultimate scrapper, walk-on, tough guy. I think he taped his fingers, wore a neck roll, gloves and arm pads all at the same time....the one and only Brent Venables
I especially liked his performance in '03

Simonou still playing well. It's obvious.
-
Special nod to Percell Gaskins just for being a bad MF.

Indeed. Was he a high jumper on the track team or did I hallucinate that? Seems like an LB would be too big so I may have made that up somewhere in my youth.

He was a great high jumper, but I won't rule out the hallucinations.

Hah, I knew it!

Actually, Ben Leber has arguably had the biggest impact for an NFL team as any of those guys. Of course I'm just basing this on his fumble recovery and laterlal last week, but I'm still pretty sure I'm right.

Gaskins would come out to the rec and occasionally try to play ball in the summertime (he was terrible) - but...he could jump from the free throw line and reverse dunk it, etc. The guy could jump retardedly.
