Short term it actually starts the flow of money back into the program from the major donors.

I got to meet TO a couple years back. The man has really erroded in recent years. True it would bring in more donations from the big boosters, but overall I think it would be a bad idea from an NU standpoint to hire TO as AD. God I hope they do it!

It would be very short-term. It is a job he always wanted, he was not allowed to be both AD and HC. FWIW, if it is true, I think the only good it does is bring some calm and getting the major donors back on board. That's it, it would not work well long-term.

It may bring back the money flow but money is not the NU problem right now. But hey look at what all that money is doing for ND so I say keep fund raising and keep hiring known team destroyers for coaches. This might be fun.

Hey I just received this from my main inside source:
It's already in the works to rid the program of Steve Pedersen, some
donors who were hesitant did an about face and starting talking of
this by halftime in the skyboxes of todays game. The money is there,
some had supported SP previously or supported Callahan - and their
money had some restrictions on it.
Those restrictions are starting to come off; as you see by the former
president of the N club going grass roots. There's a method to the
madness.
Kevin Cosgrove is as good as gone. SP will try to force that this week
to cool some of the heat. Bill Callahan will not budge, protecting his
asst.'s, and has leverage with his new extension. After Ball St. this
almost happened. BC is calling SP' bluff.
They are each standing on their own feet in this situation. If the
offense hadn't fold ed in the past 2 games then we wouldn't even be
talking about this right now. Just simply removing KC.
So in the least: SP is fired. KC resigns. Wagner goes. Elmo remains.
Busch and Wyatt are evaluated. Ditto Jordan and Gilmore. Watson will
leave at the first inkling of an actual OC spot - regrets of walking
away from Berkeley to come to Lincoln.
There has been infighting between this staff for 2 years, you didn't
think John Blake left for nothing do you? His wife loved the state and
folks here. But he wasn't interested in career suicide. Can you blame
him?
No TO will not return as AD - maybe an emeritus, and Rimington as a
fundraiser. Would get Meyers back into the fold - which means money
from Hawks & Jensen. Boehm or Casidy would be logical asst. ADs;
though Boehm may very well be on his way out.
A lot of questions; but an HC change will not be made in the immediate
future. First you have to replace SP - then assemble a national search
committee. Conduct interviews and hire the best possible candidate.
Right now HP is caught with his pants down as he has no prelim list -
and he's a lawyer by trade so will be thporough/deliberate.
And you have to let the new AD assess the situation, evaluate BC as
well as other programs and make his own decisions. If you were to hire
a new HC prior to the AD it will make the position less attractive to
would be quality applicants/targets.
Some wheels are in motion, but most boosters/alumni/donors/regents
were not prepared (nor could anyone have been) for the debacle we are
currently witnessing. It's going to take time.

Dan Cook said the University of Nebraska-Lincoln isn’t going to get another cent from him.
The 72-year-old’s family name adorns the Cook Pavilion practice field on campus.
He was infuriated about Monday's dismissal of Pederson.
“I know 99 percent of people are just elated,” Cook said. “I wish Nebraska nothing but the best. But they ain’t going to have me around. If they want to take my name off the building or take my plaque down, I don’t give a rat’s ass. I could care less. I don’t have time to go through the misery of people who make dumb mistakes.”

BD held firm and I will give TO credit for recognizing that he needed them sunburned irish boys that those Florida schools recruited to compliment the slow white boys of Nubbland. But then that 85 scholie limit occurred and along came FSnyder and his talented bunch of youngsters!

There is a lot of money to throw at a coach. I hope it is not Gill, great guy, not the man for the NU job for a host of reasons. But, has a good chance if TO is on the search committee.

It's way more than the scholie limit. The whole game has changed with the big TV dollars, the huge ESPN exposure, and the BCS being able to shut out smaller conferences. Frankly, before Wefald came to KSU, the administration didn't give a rat's ass about football. Luckily, Wefald and Snyder got us going before we were shut out of the big conference bonanza. We are a long way from the days of the Big 8 and Nebraska fans/boosters don't want to accept the reality. Everyone is getting better and everyone cares a lot more about it now than in the past because of the dollars and exposure. There is no way that they can dominate the league like they did 10-20 years ago. Nobody can. These quick and rash decisions will hurt them even worse in the long run.
