Title: attendance at midnight madness and football game?
Post by: scoopeloo on October 11, 2007, 08:45:29 PM
will there be madness (i.e. a packed house) for the midnight practice?  There are several very good recruits that ksu has an opportunity to impress with their passion for basketball.
Also, as I've looked around for football tickets it seems that there are a very large number of football tickets available for this game.  Is everyone now looking for excuses to not go to the game just because ku knocked the wind from our sails?  I've read so many people are disappointed because there are so few home games this year and then some people don't go to the few games we do have at home.  come on, the football program needs everyone on board and that means close to a sellout for every game in the conference.  ku, NU, MU, OU, UT, TT, A&M, and OSU will be packing their stadiums full each and every week.  It helps the team on the field and it's a huge recruiting tool.  Don't let this year's disappointment be the fuel for future disappointments by not going to the games.  Attendance now will help results later.  KSU is at such a disadvantage in so many other ways, don't let fan interest be another one.

I expect a fairly low turnout for the football game, especially for those that drive in from more than an hour away. You're looking at the game ending 11:45ish, maybe as late as midnight.  Might take 1/2 hour-45 min to get out of town, depending on if the crowd stays at the game or not (determined by how close the game is).  Most people from outside the immediate Manhattan area aren't getting home til 1 or later.  Many probably won't spring for motels in JC, Abilene, Salina or other parts west if they are western KS peeps.

Dirty, I am not giving you any crap here, that being said... THAT'S BULLcrap!!! I dont get our fanbase MANY of the times!!! I was asked to sit down at the USC FB game when we are making BIG PLAYS on Defense - and when I turn around to tell the A$$HOLE to stand the Frack up, I have about 40-50 other people glaring at me too! So, I just did what any other drunk, Rabid KSU fan would I ignored them and remained standing. This is ridiculous, there is no better atmosphere than the Bill at night - I guess that is the cross we have to bare considering many of THIS fanbase remembers the lean times.
One last rant, I was at Blackout Monday with a freind from Easton, KS - and there were some old a$$holes about 3 rows up from the court who just sat there until FINALLY Huggie turned, glared at them and flapped his arms to motion for them to STAND THE FU*k uP!!! They finally did.
When I first got to Central KS in 1995 with the Army - all I heard was "there's nothing to do around here" blah blah blah... This is only the hottest ticket in town for KStaters and now people are balking at it - since there is "nothing else to do" who cares how fu*king late you stay?

BTW, living in WV - it sucks, because the short 13 1/2 hr commute ONE WAY would put a damper on things. I guess I am a pu$$y.

Its truly pathetic...but Sanchez is dead on. I'll be there till the bitter end, but a lot of the older fans will either leave early or not show up at all. If this was a big rivalry game like UT last yr, it would be an awesome atmosphere, but the perception is still that CU sucks (even though that is far from the case) so I'm guessin the turnout will be lacking.   :blindfold:

sounds like a bunch of fair weather fans... could always get a hotel in manhattan or another town.  I'll be there and I live 2 hours away.   :twobirds:

I'll never understand getting mad at people who don't go to games.

It just seems silly.

Those people want to go to the games. They just can't because of married life.

I think its actually pretty hard to get a room in Manhattan on gameday.  JC is pretty tough from what I hear too. Topeka is the nearest to the east.

I'll be there til the end.  Always am.  Have never left early, even when ISU called timeout with 30 seconds left down by 35 in light snow and decent wind.

I don't get buying tickets and not using them unless there's no way to make it (work won't let you off, emergency, squawk fans wifes sister decides to schedule wedding on gameday).  Too few games, especially this year, to waste them.

I'd like to say I'll be wrong, but I can pretty much bet on there being some pretty large holes in the crowd, and not just in the cu section (bad fans).
