So I was in Santa Monica vacationing last weekend and decided to go to the USC Stanford game in the Coliseum on Saturday afternoon. We got pretty good seats, Ashton kutcher sat about 10 rows in front of us!!! Punk'd!!
Parking was really expensive, $40 a couple blocks from the coliseum. Neighborhood was fine although several season tix owners recommended not coming down when there wasn't a game/late at night. Not sure why I would. :hahano:
Although the stadium holds a ton of people (92k), there were no problems with bathrooms or concourses or lines. They have tons of great food in the booths that are mostly managed by outside vendors, all of which are better than Pizza Hut.
Tons of hot chicks basically every direction I looked :lick:

I really don't go to a lot of games for teams that I'm not a fan of but since this was a rival whom we probably will play this year in the Rose Bowl, I figured I would do some advance scouting.
Anyone else go to the USC KSU game in LA a few years back? What did you think?
-
it looks much bigger on TV clams.
-
You got to see a heck of a game.
Now where are song girl pics?
-
seems flatter on television and has a terrible reputation. but i really dug it.
bad was only 1 song leader in our section, i was hoping they'd walk around the joint but they basically chilled in front of the student section.

I went in 2001...I stayed at a hotel by LAX and took a cab to/from the game....cost about $40 round trip...
We got there real early and walked around. We ate at a strip mall across the street...the line for the Subway was full of unadventurous KSU fans and went around the block, so we went into a weird local fast food place. At least three crackheads were in there, two of which were yelling at anyone that would listen. Food was good. The Olympic stuff is pretty cool, and lighting the flame is pretty cool. They think they're #2....a lot.
it looks much bigger on TV clams.
I think this is true of most stadiums....except UT. It's just wide and goes on forever.
-
a misleading stadium would be kyle field. that mofo is like a 90 degree angle.
-
passed by the Galen Center (home of OJ Deuce), it's really cool looking from the outside
didn't see any crackheads.
-
the Images in Brick are fantastic....amazing.

Do you like LA, piss?
I like LA a lot. Seems to be cool to say you don't, though.
-
Also, the only time I went to a college FB game where I wasn't a fan of either team was the 1997 NU-CU game in Boulder.
It was my first CU experience, and I was amazed at the amount of lame "Go Michigan" smack that came from CU fans toward the NU fans. I was still in high school, so I didn't realize how mean people were at college football games. I sat with CU donors, and it's funny when a one guy boos really loudly by himself 50 rows up.

I've been to LA and San Diego, and driven from San Diego to Vegas, and I think Riverside is kind of sh*tty.
Acutally, most of southern California very far from the coasts is pretty sh*tty.

very crapty

Here's where I watched the KSU vs ku game from in Marina Del Ray:

Venice was awesome, Santa Monica was awesome, I took a crap at Starbucks in Brentwood where I once saw Jessica Simpson, Malibu was really cool too. We went to the place where Mel Gibson got lit up before his last DUI and drank a few bottles of wine out on their deck. Unbelievable view of the Pacific + a great DJ.

California is a great road trip state. Just start at one end and work toward the other. So many great attractions...beaches, historical sites, entertainment, sports. Some really beautiful scenery in places like Big Sur.
There's a place outside San Fran called the Cliff House or something like that...haven't been there in 15+ years, but it had all these old time arcade games--like, the mechanical, lever-operated type, before video screens.
And on the topic of non-KSU football games, I've been to Florida @ Kentucky when the Ol' Ballcoach was still at Fla. This year I've been to Cal @ CSU and CSU @ tcu. tcu's upper deck is incredibly steep...and the ladies down there look like they are all cloned from the same beautiful blonde, 5'2" model.
-
I went to ISU-FSU back in 2002 at "rowhead"
great game.

My first non being a fan game was ku vs CU in Boulder back in 95 or so, I was in Denver for the Great American Beer Festival and drove up to Boulder to see the "Hawks/Buffs".

No free rent here either, but ya cost of living is pretty high. There's ways around that.
-
did seneca really score on that last drive?

I thought you said you had no house payment/rent? And damn, you're old.

no, he wasn't even close imo. It was the greatest moral victory i've ever seen live.

i like the inland empire area. i love the mountains. the southern deserts are fun (wouldn't live there by preference). big sur is gorgeous, the valley isn't bad. the sierras are awesome, everything from monterrey north is nice. hell, even the reno area is nice.

You know what's a lot like Cali? Spain.

Just the thought that two years before I was a high school kid going to a game in Boulder, you were going to Boulder as a side trip from Beer Fest made you seem a lot older.

I guess I'm old kinda - 35, but I don't act old, or feel old, or look old, so it's ok.

Yup, I run into them every weekend. I like the Plaza, obviously, but think it's terrible of them trick people from Des Moines and Lincoln and Springfield into thinking they're hanging out/spending time in Lil' Seville.

i lived on 47th and ward.
nice quaint lil tower.
lovely sun room. did my best reading there.
everything went to hell when brush creek became tainted.
-
spain is pretty overrated. the plaza is prob. better.

Nice job addressing the DVD to "Trim's" at my office. Somehow the secretary had an idea to ask me if it was mine before messaging the entire building.

I went to the USC game in 2001. I stayed with a couple of guys I knew from K-State that were running a sports book for some guy out of a tiny little office. When I knocked on the door to the office I could tell he was scared as hell that I was a cop. It was hilarious.
The Coliseum was pretty cool, but we didn't pay anywhere near $40 to park. More like $5.

Hilton, I think.
