Title: Will we see any noticable changes sat?
Post by: cireksu on October 09, 2007, 11:27:20 AM
Running the ball more?

Deep throws? and or deep pass routes?

Or do we come out blazing with 3-5 yd crosses and outs?

I really think we'll see some different looks than we have seen, we will not beat CU running the same crap we have been all year.

I don't care, I just worry about defense.

I haven't watched CU at all this year, so I'm not sure of their strengths/weaknesses.

No major changes.

RP has a vision with what he wants to do with the program and how he wants to run it. He doesnt have "his" type of players in every position, but will continue to run the system he believes will be successful at ksu, regardless of the players he has to run it (to a certain degree of course).

Nope.  We switched to a 3-4 from a 4-3 because we have like two defensive tackles....if he was stubborn, he would stick to a 4-3 and make Clayton Cox a DT or something.  He runs the offense the way he does because the o-line sucks.

I still see him running the same kind of offense for the most part if we had a better line. Freeman had time to throw a lot of the time vs. ku....but no one could get open.

I'm scared as hell that no Bedore = no running game.

It'd be similar, but it wouldn't suck as much.  You'd see a lot more running and a lot more play action and a lot more big plays. Changing the offense with the current group wouldn't change the suckyness.

There has to be some kind of change. I hope that we dont have Calafraud Jr here - "By god, I am going to run MY offense if it kills me (and the program too)" I am a little nervous. I think that Prince and OCJF need a pow-wow

I think we will make more of an attempt to run the ball.  We've got to be able to run the ball better to set up the rest of our offense.  I'm not sure what CU does defensively, but Freeman played very well in Boulder last year.

I expect we'll see lots of blitzes on Hawkins.  He's shown to be a solid player, but he is still a young guy and going on the road.  His first time on the road (I'm not counting Baylor) he didn't do so well against ASU.

On special teams, I think we'll see more attempts at a block.  We've got to do something besides the 2 returner look b/c teams will continue to kick away from it.

The offense is what it is.  I doubt we see anything different.  I'd like to see some traps, counters, maybe use the TE up the seam more, but I doubt it.

Defensively, Roland and Walker have to fill their gaps better because ku would pull a guard and kick Roland or Walker out (Cantrell kind of owned Cline, he's got to make that more of a battle against CU), leaving a huge running lane.  we've got to stop the run or Charles is going to f us up.

The interesting thing is we ran traps quite a bit last year.  Maybe our guards just don't handle it well.  I would like to see the cutback (by design) used a little more off the outside zone play.  And we have to get Mastrud down the seem or behind the backers more often.  Or something designed for Nelson when he lines up in the slot.

QFT on the cutback.  CU used to do that to perfection, and it's there for us ALOT, even without a Chris Brown type back.  It was there against ku on a lot of stretch/zone plays.  Since we can't/don't run, we're going to see LB's starting about a yard or two back before they even get into their drops and that won't allow the WR to get behind them and in b/t the safeties.  That's probably why draws are working well.

I just want to see some passion...or emotion on defense...last week we were getting ripped left and right, I kept expecting to see a defensive leader step up and call the players out. I figured Roland, Watts, Campbell, Walker, somebody would call the defense together...but that didn't happen.

lets just see some passion this week, if we see that, we will be ok.

I expect we are going to see a lot of running from them.  I don't think they'll put the ball in hawkins hands unless we get up early.  hawkins will try to keep the crowd out of it.

We'll look like a brand new, innovative team the first 30 plays.  After that... not so much.

It seems like Prince plays the Offense to our strenghts, JF is not all that mobile as far as running the ball (like Ell), and our O-line can not stop the D from getting to him to set up long passes. We have a great short pass game to set up a run. It plays to Jordy and our nice TE's  :fatty:

I doubt we'll see much new, once CU figures out how to defend that, then we'll scramble like we have in other games.  I hope we have a good day on Special teams, win the feild position game and maybe get one TD off of a return of some type.
