Title: Oklahoma State isn't that good
Post by: michigancat on May 31, 2006, 05:27:52 PM
They're on everyones "Top 4 locks" list, however.  (Also appearing:  UT, ku, aTm)

If you ask me, the only top 4 lock for next year is ku.

Good analysis.

Not even sure about ku.

One things is for sure, the big 12 is "wide" open next year.

Will someone please cut through all of this "in depth" crap and tell me the point of this thread?

Lots of people just assume OSU is going to be allsome next year, despite the fact they weren't tha much better than us. (But they were better than us)

They also beat us on our home floor.

They also played in the south

They also looked much better than us in the big 12 tournament.

They have much more returning talent than the crap wool left huggs with

imo, of course.

The south wasn't much tougher.  We were hampered by a horrible coach.

Either way, this is the most wide open Big XII race top to bottom in a long time.

 :banghead:

You had three teams that were MUCH better than any north team outside of ku.

OU, UT and ATM.

OSU had to play them six time.

They were better than us. Last, year.

Damnit.

A&M is no joke. Aggies are my dark horse to win the conference.

More like second to bottom.

Aggie just doesn't do it for me.  Take Jones out of the game and make Law IV and the rest of the no names shoot and you'll be just fine.  Also, I've yet to see a Gillispie recruit do anything.  Melvin Watkins has given him everything.

I agree.  Texas was head and shoulders better than everybody else in the conference.

Actually, aTm was probably a pretty close second once tourney time rolled around as clearly evidenced by their run through the tourney while faggot tech bowed out in round one against frickin' Bradley of all teams.

Don't forget that even Nebraska came in to town and beat them at GIA.  Talk about a look of shock on everybody's face as we left the building.

And Jank.

And Papa Manning.

Any coach at ku or with ties to Self = basketball genius who will succeed wildly wherever they go next, and if they don't, it's somebody else's fault.

so long as they only take his recruiting and motivational skills with them and not his coaching/x&o ability.

1)ku - Lock, loaded..ready 2 go. Lock for 15-1...AT LEAST
2)OSU - Finsihed last year STRONG, plus...eddie hugged Nick and Kirk. Love the Pokes!
3)A&M - Gillepsie is a Self Disciple. nuff said.
4)Texas - Will be like ku was last year...start weak..finish on a tear...but not as good as our phoggies!
5)Baylor - Drew is getting some SICK talent. Look for them to get hot in march.
6)KSU - Thuggy brings in his juco thug (young) and the Giraffe (lol!). The ONLY reason they are this high is because the big 12 sucks. They will be lucky to come w/n 15 of our Hawks!

Pretty much sums it up.  I think anyone but Moo, ISU, and CU can finish in the top 4.  I wouldn't be shocked if Tech finished as high as 3rd.  If I could pick one player to play for KSU, it would be Jay Jackson.

I'll go on the record saying that ku won't win the conference like they're hoping.  You've got two games against K-State so you can already count two losses.

They lose only 8.7 points per game from their 2 departing seniors.  They are going to actually have a non-con schedule this year that will help them an absolute ton.  Their class that are going to be sophomores next year are about 100X better than anything class KSU has sniffed in the last 15 years.  Drew is a proven coach.  He does very well with players.

it basically comes down the fact that Drew has got the kids on campus, where KSU is still trying to get them there.  People need to realize that Baylor is going to be for real this year.

The final RSCI came out today.

# of top 100 playes

KSU - 1  Ranked 42nd

Baylor - 1 Ranked 69th

Don't even try to tell me their recruiting class is that much better.

Also, we were a better team than them last year, and we don't lose much either.

Not to mention our coach is the best in the conference.

Freshman rarely carry a team along the likes of Baylor and KSU.  Look at the sophomore classes, and how much better theirs is.  That is where KSU lacks any experience at all.  Incoming freshman matter some, but it matters a lot more when you get kids there and in the system of a year or two.

You are REALLY overrating Baylors talent. They only had 1 RSCI guy in the 2005 class (sophmores 2 be)

Stop using generic phog.net arugments.

These guys are all going to be in their second year at Baylor:

JuCo Mohamed Kone 4 Star
NR Jari Vanttaja 3 Star
JuCo Tony Jones 3 Star
15th ranked PF in class Kevin Rogers 4 Star
15th ranked PG in class Henry Dugat 4 Star
NR Curtis Jerrells 3 Star

KSU's guys in their second year with the program (absolute wasteland that wooly left you guys):

NR Deilvez Yearby 1 star
JC Mario Taybron 3 star
JC Akeem Wright 3 star
NR Darren Kent 2 star
NR Sidiki Sidibe 2 star
NR Ousmane Cisse 3 star
JC David Hoskins 3 star

KSU does have better upperclassmen (Cartier mostly), but i still don't see KSU finishing above Baylor.

The fact that you have Cisse, Sidibe, and Taybron listed shows how much you actually know about the situation.

so have you ever watched a kstate or baylor game or are you relying purely on scout.com to tell you who is a better team?
Title: Re: Oklahoma State isn't that good
Post by: ChicagoCat on June 05, 2006, 12:34:13 AM
Wooly didn't replace them but huggins did,  Yes theyre is 2 frosh but also a juco kid.  KSU has 3 returning starters and every position they lost they improved on in recruiting, even if they are young.  And although they me be frosh I think a ku fan would realize how far freshmen can come over the course of a nonconference season.  Granted our class isnt as talented as yours was last year but its still good.  Dugat and Rogers, youre two four star kids averaged a combined about 13 points per game.  Did kone even play?  They have a good backcourt with Bruce and Jerell  matchup Akeem Wright will be able to take one of them out, granted the head to head does not necessarily make KSU finish higher.  Hoskins was also just as good as Jerell.  KSU had a better team last year and they did nothing but improve, Baylor had team that should improve but better than KSU?? Also, KSU has better coaching that should help them win the close games that they lost so many of.

I hope I still see you posting on this board after KSU beats your jayhawks and Baylor.  Please tell me you'll be here.
