In response to the myth put out by ku fans that ku athletics as a whole are better than KSU, I could not help but to play the mythbuster here and put it to rest.
In the 11 full years of the Big 12 conference, KSU athletics has outperformed ku in most sports. I did a little research and found where the respective teams finished in the conference standings each year. For instance, an 11-0 mark for ku in basketball means that they finished ahead of KSU each of the 11 years of the Big 12 conference - not necessarily the results of head-to-head matchups because in some sports it is simply an annual conference tournament.
Football: KSU (9-1-1) - ku finished better in 2005, and a tie in 2004.
Men's Basketball: ku (11-0) - We all knew this.
Women's Basketball: Push (5-5-1) - ku better in '97 to '01, KSU better in '02-'06, and tied last year although KSU had a better overall record and successful WNIT.
Volleyball: KSU (11-0) - Complete and utter dominance by KSU including being consistently ranked in the top 25 and a conference championship in 2003.
Baseball: ku (6-5) - Pretty even although neither team has ever been a Big 12 power.
Men's Indoor Track: KSU (10-1) 10 straight years of dominance
Men's Outdoor Track: ku (7-4)
Women's Indoor Track: KSU (10-1) 10 straight years of dominance
Women's Outdoor Track: KSU (10-1) 10 straight years of dominance and multiple CCs
Men's Cross Country: ku (9-2)
Women's Cross Country: KSU (8-3)
Women's Tennis: Push (5-5-1)
Men's Golf: ku (7-4)
Women's Golf: KSU (7-4)
Women's Rowing: Can't find stats because it is not NCAA sanctioned.
Also note: ku does not participate in equestrian, and KSU does not participate in women's soccer, women's softball, or women's swimming & diving.
Results: KSU better at 7 sports in the Big 12 era; ku better at 5 sports in the Big 12 era; and two sports are about even. The notion that ku is better as a whole at athletics is pure lunacy and seems to be some sort of a myth perpetuated by the ku athletic department.

The whole notion that ku is dominant is because Men's Basketball is the only sport watched by many fans in Johnson and Douglas County. Of course, if they manage to win a football game now and then it means they get to chuckle and say "and now we really own you guys". Tee hee. :lick:

Of course ku does not have equestrian... they are like :ohno: :ohno: :ohno: when it comes to equestrian. They do not even dare go there.

Bravo to the stats also... very nice! No ku doesn't have an Equestrian team, but they do have a BUNCH of horse's asses.
PS KSU does have a few NCs in track and at least one in Equestrian. So the notion that we haven't won a NC since ku did in 1988 also is crap. (yeah, its pretty cheap, but we do have some NCs)

you left out tons of sports...what are you trying to prove by picking 15 random sports and acting like they encompass all athletics. It's kind of funny that every sport you left out just so happens to be sports where ku is better than KSU.

Only 3 sports matter baseball,basketball,football.. So its 2-1 us. No one cares about womens athletics come on now..
