I miss Manhattan before all of the stupid college students came here and ruined a perfectly good Christian midwest town!  Where's that T-Shirt?!?!

KK I agree with almost all of your posts, but this is where yours and my paths fork. The fact that there was so much passion about the sports in a middle of nowhere town is astonishing. Many things happened in Manhattan, and I would love to raise my 3 kids there - but the social aspects of that town per capita would rival some of the bigger cities IMO. (remember PER CAPITA)

I really can't stand the college ghetto invading my neighborhood and taking a giant Chipotle turd on my property values.  Stop smoking Marloboro Lights and bumping that hippity music and get a job young men!

The worst is gamedays and "move-in" day when the wife and family can't even take a trip to Wal-Mart to pick up the new Joel Olsteen book and a palette of Chef Boyardee without running into some heathen college students drunk, high or stoned eyeballing the frozen burrito aisle!

The worst is when they drink around the stadium.  I just stand there with my Bloody Mary and shake my head at all the lawlessness.

OK, got it... I agree - straight into the toilet is where manhattan is going!!! KK keep it up, this stuff cracks me up!

Were any of you all there from ca 1995-2001? Chupa, confirm that Manhattan was far and away better than it is nowadays. I was in training at Fort Riley and I told the class that I would take them out and they would love it... it was Thursday night afterall - well, it SUCKED ASS!!! I will just leave you with this, at midnight I could walk through that hell hole Rusty's (that's where they all wanted to go, dont blame me, I wanted to go to Maes) in about 30 seconds and not have to rub any of my body on anyone else.

BMW, its a KSU thing, you wouldn't get it

college was fun and all but there's no f'n way i would want to go back and live in that town again.  it's a great place for a college kid, or an 90 yr old, but that's about as far as it goes and i don't fit in either category.

a) Decent place to work
b) A house on the quiet old fogey side of town for me

Even then, I've grown accustomed to all the places I can go eat and shop at here in OP.

In my opinion, about all that I don't think I'd like about Manhattan is it's proximity (or lack thereof) to a major airport...

Just another hours closer to KC, and it would be perfect...oh, and they need to commercialize Tuttle more.

sweet.  well, i associate the good times from out of college with the rest of the world.  a world that actually has more to do than meet for $1 anythings on Wednesday nights at Scoreboards.  if you had a job you'd know that, maybe when you graduate you'll understand.

do i miss manhattan? hell no, if i want to drive to the middle of no where, drink beer with 17 yr olds and listen to the crickets chirp i can go to olathe.

i think some of you who graduated and and talk about how great manhattan is have selective memories of just how "great" college was, for those still there, well, you're just to young to know the difference.

Yeah, that sounded wittier in my head than it did on screen.  And it didn't sound that witty in my head.

And you have to realize that most people that graduate from college don't do totally rad things as often as possible like you and me.  Too many move to places like Olathe and think going to the Plaza Art Fair once a year is a great perk that justifies living in a "big city".  (This is not just a K-State thing, FWIW)

Nearly everyone wishes they could relive their college days.  The question is just about pointless if taken that way.  Missing a place, in a more meaningful sense, entails something like having at least a small desire to move back there.

manhattan is like a girl i dated years ago. you move on...date other women, but she is still on your mind.

years down the road, she gets divorced, and when you go back to her, she has changed....but there are small subtle things about her that remind you of the good ol days.

i miss manhattan for that reason.

stupid whore.
