Title: Beware of Kansas State
Post by: DNeg on October 02, 2007, 08:42:06 AM
ku has played no one. of course there D, Special teams, and O have looked far superior to Texas.

ku has not faced a D or been in an environment like they will face on Saturday. They will turn the ball over, and they will struggle all day to move the ball.

This one could get ugly, and for all those who think ku has a chance, they gave up four sacks to Toledo, enough said

We will put another QB on the bench complaining of seeing stars

Agree completely about ku having played nobody....HOWEVER...

ku is a tougher and more fundamentally sound team than Texas.

ku, while not as potent or talented on the DL as Texas, is BETTER in the back 7.  Going into the season I was laughing my arse off that UT was going to start THE OTHER Griffin at safety, Palmer and Foster at corner, and their LB's are TERRIBLE.  We knew that about their LB's last year.  If one pays attention in class while watching both teams play you will see that ku LB's work tirelessly to get off blocks and make tackles...UT LB's are hilarious to watch.

Texas definitely has more talent/athletes/prestige than ku but that doesn't make a team.

And I really don't care if Toledo sacked Reesing 4 times.  That could have been due to vanilla blocking schemes vs. all out blitzes...we don't know why.

Having said that I still feel that ku will have holes along their interior OL much like Texas, their DE's are weak and get no pass rush, their overall team speed is average for BCS conference play, and they have no theats vertically at wide receiver despite some of the gawdy YAC numbers in OOC(due to horrifying opponents).

And one other thing...it's a bit different for Reesing to try and needle a ball in deep zone vs. a Toledo or any other overmatched defense on their schedule because their receivers could find a lot of space.  It's another for that average armed 5-10 QB to try and zip one in tight spaces vs. veteran secondary like the Cats will put on the field.
