Title: How do you like watching the game?
Post by: pufizzle on October 01, 2007, 11:06:28 PM
When you can't attend a big KSU game in person, do you like to watch it at a bar?  At your house with a bunch of people?  Somewhere alone?

When it's a pretty big game, I would almost rather watch it by myself or maybe one other person.  I just get fracking pissed when someone talks during the broadcast.  I take games WAY too seriously.  Am I the only person like this??

I have literally almost been divorced about 10 times for telling my wife, family members etc... to STFU and to get outta my house during a big football game that I couldn't attend. If on the rare occasion I allow others to come over and watch with me now they better be K-staters who want to watch the game and get into it and not sit around and make use of the opportunityto make fricking small talk and catch up on crap. Not to mention it's so much cheaper to get drunk at home than in a bar.

Basketball is more "frustrating" and I throw things more.

Football is more nerve racking, spastic and depressing (if we lose).  I don't really get mad at the end of football games, just depressed.  I will get very mad for short spurts during football, but basketball affects me for whole weeks (or longer).

See: my hate of Clent Stewart and my skepticism about David Hoskins.

I watch them with my dad.  I was born in 89 so we've pretty much been taking "the ride" together..through thick and thin.

He's the only one close to me who really understands how deep and important football games can be.

At my house, ALONE!!!  The wife usually goes to a friends house or something.  She gets pissed when I start yelling at the announcers for calling Ian Campbell Moses Manu or refering to the team as "Kansas."  When I'm not yelling, I'll sit down lean forward and tap one of my feet uncontrollably.  Occasionally I'll pace if the game is close or I'm pissed off.  And finally, if I'm drinking a beer when something good happens, I'll nurse that beer as long as I possibly can.

It used to be I'd rather watch them by myself at home.  But now that there's an impressionable little kid running around I go to a bar if I can't convince my wife that she should go to the grocery store for a few hours.

Last year in the 4th qtr of the ku game when I knew we were going to lose. That hollow feeling sank in and lasted for at least all week maybe more like two weeks. I F-ing hate it when Kstate loses a football game and it's magnified about 10X when it's to ku. :curse:

Heh.  Never been that brave.  I prefer undies and an a-frame shirt.  Purple crocs if I need to walk out and check the mail.

i always start the game sober.  if i feel like its not going well then i start to drink thinking maybe it will change something.  if the game is going well then i start to drink in celebration.

At home.  Alone, or the wife is in her office working on homework or something else.  I set the laptop up and log into Yahoo chat or the chat room on this site and text with other college football fans.  :users: Usually, I have both open.

I grew up watching them with my dad, but I can't really stand watching games with him unless we're winning.  I get pissed and scream at the players or the coaches on TV, or at the game just roll my eyes and look away, while he says "Relax, it's just a game."

He's enjoyed the full ride and so he can handle losing, and while I was present during the pre/early Snyder years, I didn't really pay attention/care until the mid-late 90's (until I was 10 or so) so I'm very spoiled and expect us to play good football.  I'm used to watching us destroy superior 'talent' with better effort and better scheming/coaching.  When we don't, I get really pissed.  When we lose to teams with worse talent (See: Fresno, ku, Marshall, Purdue) I &@#%ing kill people.

To answer the question: At a huge watch party, anywhere but my house(I hate cleaning up) with a bunch of other K-state fans, a nice TV, comfortable couch/chairs, complete with nachos, brats, and beer.  Maybe some poker leading up to the game.  At a sports bar comes in a distant second.

Unbelievable how do you not want to punch other people in the face?

For the UT game, I fell asleep at 11:00 Saturday morning (don't ask) and slept on my couch in a purple shirt and gym shorts so I would wake up when everyone came out to watch the game.  I woke up at 2:37 PM and rolled over to see a couple of guys saying "WAKE UP WE GOT A GAME TO WIN."  Literally as I opened my eyes, the opening kickoff took place.  At halftime I cleaned myself up a bit and got some Hunam.  I don't get drunk during games, but I'll drink a few beers so I can fit in with the in-crowd (all the cool kids are doing it, etc).

I like to put a bench in front of the TV (and then just stand in front of it) and pretend like I'm at the game.  This usually involved lots of yelling at the tv, and paying double for the food and drink in my refrigerator.  during half time I stand in front of the bathroom door and wait at least ten minutes before going inside. then barely make it back in time to watch the second half kickoff.

good times.
