For the y-axis on Ron's popularity chart:
Texas win love - ku loss hate >>> Texas loss meh-ness + ku win meh-ness
IMO, this is clearly true.
-
definitely log-linear tho.

Another Rusty gem

I think you're right, but it would speak very poorly to the coaching staff's ability to prevent a let-down after a big win.
-
bump?
-
If you're speaking only in terms of the so-called "rivalry" (<- LOL!), that's probably true. If however, you add in the newly discovered dimension that we have the far superior team, the loss does sting more than it would have if, say, ku would have proven to be as good as billed.
-
It's kind of got to be Texas win love - ku loss hate + bowl game. If not, Texas win love - ku loss hate + NO bowl = Ron getting Tyrone Willingham'd.

Depends on the fan.
Rational fans understand that for the future success and national perception of the team, our win over Texas means much more than a loss to Texas and win over ku would have meant. I doubt we're getting as many votes as we are right now if we lose at Texas and beat ku, although if we had kept it close at Texas and beat the crap outta ku it might be possible. Texas win definitely helps recruiting in Texas. If the ku loss means we lose the next Jake Sharp to ku, then so be it.
However, Joe Bob out in Herington definitely would have preferred that we beat those "gay chickenhawks."

I think the ku win might hurt our in state JUCO recruiting. For instance, maybe the next Rob Jackson goes to ku.

I pretty much agree with bslimz.
I will say this, if Prince does somehow think that he is endearing himself to the boosters and average K-State fan with this beat Texas and lose to ku bit, then he is mistaken. I would prefer he win both, but provided the choice winning a top 10 road game is much more important than beating ku. If he puts together the type of team we think he is capable of, then the home wins will be an afterthought, it is the road wins that signal to me the possibility for great things.

If losing to ku means we finish below them, then I'd rather beat ku than beat Texas.

If it's a tie (non-north title), f*ck em. Give me Texas.

QFT. Nobody cares if we beat ku. Remember how awesome last week was? How much coverage did we get from that win?

exactly - we get more recruits from the state of Texas anyway. It sucks to loose to ku but, I would take beating Texas and natioal exposure anyday.
ku has to continue its season playing against mainly unranked teams so, if they loose to an unranked team - they will fall out of top 25 and never make it back. They just simply out coached us on Saturday.
-
The ku loss burns, no doubt, and I am sure it burns Prince as much too. The Texas win was great though, and does do a lot for exposure and recruiting. I think if we can go on to win 8 game or so, then the ku loss won't be as big a deal for the time being.
I think losing to ku, means we need a better ending to the season, a better bowl appearance, and a bowl win.
The thing I try to remember is that Prince is only in his 2nd year and look where he's at. Right now, I'd say ku and KSU are about equal. Now its taken Mangino what 6 years, and Prince only 2? I like where Prince is going.....as long as he doesn't fall to 0-3 vs ku.

Absolute true statement....Just to re-work the logic a bit...if we lose to Texas the ku-KSU game is completely irrelevant....no TV, no buzz, nothing. It's KSU's win v. Texas that elevated ku and KSU....

This line of thinking is perfect! I look at the OSU, NU, MU games as MUCH bigger than ku. I still think that we make it to a bowl game. ku?
