A lot of people will probably say the defense, but I'm going to say the red zone offense.
Last year we were totally inept in the red zone, but this year we're doing a really good job of getting points when we should be.

to be more specific i think, the O-Line. how many sacks did they allow, one or two....that is huge on the road.

I think they have only allowed 4 sacks all year.

Offensive line
Red zone offense isn't that impressive when most of our scores are field goals
Had we scored touchdowns it would have been goodbye Auburn and would have demolished SJSU

Compared to last year though it's improvement

That's what I mean. Last year we looked like a bunch of blind paraplegics in the red zone. IMO, that was one of the biggest problems we faced last year.

Our first drives of games have been pretty good, it's just that against UT (and MoSt) we got in the endzone.
AU - 13 plays 61 yds - FG
SJSt - 13 plays 66yds - FG
MoSt - 5 plays 55yds - TD
UT - 11 plays 80yds - TD
...it was good for Nelson to make a move and get himself into the end zone on our first drive against UT; he didn't in the game against AU (on a similar play I think) and I think that might have made it a different ball game.
Our redzone stats are good/great offensively and decent defensively. It looks like we don't allow our opp's that many opportunities to score (but when we do, they score somehow):
KSU OPP
RED-ZONE SCORES 17-18 94% 9-9 100%
RED-ZONE TOUCHDOWNS 11-18 61% 5-9 56%

I would say that Prince has been able to transfer his demeanor and philosophy to his players. He has also been able to recruit to his personality. It would appear that we are back. However can our player maintain their focus? Sure Hope so because they definitly have the tallent. :ksu: :ksu:

honestly the biggest suprise this year to me is a toss up. one part of me wants to say the speed on defense. i knew they would be fast, but they are scary fast now that ive seen them run with auburn and texas. the other part of me says the o-line's ability to protect freeman. he's had a lot of time when he needs it. except the auburn game in which groves rolled alesana in the fourth quarter and got some serious pressure on freeman. :dancin:
