Title: Abdul

Looks like we're going for him.  What worries me is that we're his only real option right now.

He is Frank's guy.  I suppose we'll have to trust FM on this one.

This shouldn't come as a suprise.  I don't think it was a coincedence that he's in Hutch.  That said, I doubt he ever ends up at K-State.  If he does, I wouldn't mind...unless he is the gem of the class.  Then we might be in trouble.

I do have to wonder why "many" around here seem to be really apprehensive about recruiting a former Top 150 player that was recruited by several "name" schools, but were really pumped about another big that we signed late that was pretty borderline in his recruitment.  I suppose the timing has something to do with it, but still...

I think this is more of a product of people are waiting to see how he does this year, as it appears we are as well, but especially more true because I don't think the Hutch coach is letting others in on him right now. I believe that the Hutch coach said he's ours if we want him, and he's not going to let him be recruited until we say no thanks.

So the talent = offers and or interest equation might not apply at the moment.

yes, very odd.  ksu prob. has no real shot at gilchrist, but the other dcassault big (davis) sounds interesting.  i think i'd rather have the athlete than the skill at the 5.

Way too many kids in high school are rated in the Top-150 solely because of their height.  They dominated a bunch of shorter kids in high school but when they get to Div-I ball they are a total waste.  I see Herrera as being in this category.  He is slow and with few skills.  And f*ck potential!  Potential doesn’t give you $hit.  I would rather see the schollie go to a shorter but skilled kid rather than piss it away, but it’s Martin’s team and his choice so I guess we play it out and see where it goes...

I imagine it has to do with some of the reports from his time at Cincy.  We've heard a lot of bad things from the former Bearcat fans. (Pussy, team cancer, etc.)

Like I said, I wouldn't mind if comes to K-State.  However, you have to admit, that if we lose Walker, Hoskins, Stewart, Young and Beasley next season, then Herrera can't be our top incoming guy.

The reason I don't think he's coming has more to do with the fact that he has been on three teams in three years and has yet to make it onto the court.

I agree, if Herrara is our best incoming recruit, that's a very bad thing.  But if he's our 4th or 5th best recruit and he really wants to play for Martin, I think I can handle it.

If he is our 4th or 5th best recruit I will be happy

Bennett was a 5 star and look at how that crap turned out.  And he was Frank's guy too, wasn't he?
He's just not reliable or proven.

And who were we pumped about?  Anderson?  Not really...  I mean, he's fine, but no one went purple kool-aide on it.

QFT.  Unless the other 4-5 players are just as crappy and we rank them by reverse alphabetical order by first name.
