Title: ku game
Post by: sunhawk on September 26, 2007, 09:52:12 AM
It appears so far that most of you are more interested in talking about the ku game than the upcoming Texas game.  Does that mean that the thinking is that the Texas game is already lost or that they will be push overs.  I am a ku fan living in Texas so I am looking forward to both of the upcoming games.

I think most on here are worried about a hangover for the ku game after our rivalry game against UT.

That's interesting.  So the UT game is a rivalry game and the ku game isn't.

Correct.

So it's more important for you to win the Texas game than to win the ku game?  Ok, that makes the Texas game pretty darn important to you.  It will be fun to watch.

Correct.

I agree w/ javacat.  ku has won two of the last 3 games and has dominated the overall series.  KSU is no longer the dominating team they were under Bill Snyder.

And it is killing KSU fans that ku is the better team in the sunflower state.

We would actually appreciate it if ku fans would leave the board during our rivalry week with Texas.  Their will be plenty of time to discuss the meaningless game with ku next week.

Ok but some of the KSU fans are posting on the ku board already and have been for several days.  It just seems odd to me that some cat fans are more interested in the ku game than in the upcoming Texas game.  Especially since some of you consider the Texas game to be a rivalry game and not the ku game.  Split fans.  KSU is certainly not a rivalry game for Texas.  Far from it.  I'm sure they want to beat the crap out of you though because of the game last year.

They're basically all socks.

Any real KSU fan is more concerned with beating rival UT than some meaningless game against a basketball school.

I think those are probably the younger crowd who don't fully appreciate college football rivalries.  They look at the recent ku flukes as to somehow meaning the ku game is back as a rivalry.  They will learn from their fathers and their father's fathers what a real rivalry is.  It just takes some time.

UT fans I know are talking non-stop about this game.

Please, don't compare historic rivalries.  They all have their nuiances.

You have 10 days to get ready for your Superbowl.

You are sadly mistaken.  Our real rival is MU and we play that in Arrowhead.  Good luck Saturday because you'll need it.

Beating an unranked sub-par KSU team is not a goal, it's an expectation.  I am more concerned about the MU game at Arrowhead.

Maybe you should head to the mu board then instead of swinging from UT's jock.

PS.  Mu considers NU their rival.  They will still bring 10X as many fans to Arrowhead.

ouch.

There is meaning to when you play is and it being referred to your Superbowl - you dont tear the goal posts down when the game doesn't mean anything. It took your team until the end of the game to beat a 4-7 team in 2004 and last year we lost to you following a MONSTER of a win against the #4 team in the country with numerous injuries - both games caused a virtual mei lei (sp?) in the streets of Larry Town. I have never done this, but I will speak for every KSU fan on this board and say that the UT win meant about a thousand times more than beating JCCC-L. Now if you wouldn't mind, the smack talking with you all will begin Monday Oct 1 - until then our rivalry needs to be addressed.

Please guys, let us focus on Texas. With all the ku fans coming to this board (and we know how great it is) you're distracting us from the task at hand. ku fans have been talking about KSU all year here and on the various ku websites. We understand that we are your Superbowl and that the game on October 6th is the biggest game in ku history. A loss and it might just end ku football as you know it (not that that is saying much). When you beat ranked teams like Texas on a regular basis those become the games we as fans focus on. So please, have the common courtesy to let us do that. We'll let you get back to your Superbowl after this weeks rivalry game for us has ended.

I know several UT fans and even more OU fans.  Now THAT is a rivalry.

Red River Shootout: A long standing rivalry
KSU vs UT: An up and coming rivalry. They are blacking us our for football, we are blacking them out for basketball. :hornsdown
KSU vs Nubbs: 75% of fans hate the other team, the other 25% have extreme mutal respect. Always makes for a good football matchup
KSU vs ku: ku claims thier piss match versus Mizzou is a rivalry and K-State is not. The reality is that KSU has arrived in basketball and ku is improving in football but has only won recent games as they are taking advantage of KSU's off years. However, all both schools continue to improve in both sports, the national media will call it a rivalry, but we won't.
ku vs Mizzou: Just an old civil war revival that is nothing more than a piss match

So, the question is who is ku's rival since Mizzou is just a piss match. Buknell? This weeks idle? Or a Salad?

Yes, it appears we are interested in talking ku, but that is only appearance. The truth is chickenhawk fans have an obsession with starting post on our boards. So, tell me who has more *interest in the KSU-ku game? Run along now little birdie.

*extreme concern of being exposed when playing real competition

I think ku should be able to have a rival when they have a winning record in the Big 12.  Until then, they are no one's rival.

I think ESPN/ABC knows this game can be a bonus coverage game simply because there are two teams here that have conference championships and have impacted the national championship scene.    ku simply doesn't measure up.

So until ku does something relevant in football in the Big 12, they are not anyones rival (except maybe Baylor.)

ku only has 2 Big 12 Road Wins?  HOLY CHRIST!! How can you be a rival is you don't win anywhere?

LOL.

LOL yes.  We tore down the goalposts in Lawrence and the pussies didn't do a &@#%ing thing about it.  You know you're completely owned when you let someone else come into your place and tear the goalposts down.

In other news, MJ, you shouldn't really deny them a rival.  You damn well know they'll never have a winning conference record and shouldn't get their hopes up.

And to bring up Mangino's road record?  Well that was just mean.  They're cute when they think they're a good team, why ruin it and bring them back down to reality?

Your definition of a rival is different from the conventional definition.   When I talk about a rival I'm talking about a traditional rival that goes back many, many years and has nothing to do with a schools win/loss record.  They get up for their games against each other no matter how they faired against other schools.  That's what I'm talking about.
