Title: Latest on AB
Post by: Fox on September 18, 2007, 10:11:25 PM
I talked to Arthur last week. He said he hasnt changed his feelings towards K-State. He's not ready to make a decision. He said he wants to go sonewhere where he can benefit the best and he cna help the team. He ultimatly wants to win a national championship.

If it helps, I told him I'm goin to KSU ;) JK

He likes Kstate...but he can see that as a team we don't have the horses to win an NC. We have the talent to make a bowl..and compete, but not like we did back in '98. Just calling it like I see it.

I'm really wanting both of the princesses to verbal somewhere and put an end to all of this.

no crap I wanna win a N.C. Do you really think, even if Arthur came that we would even compete for a N.C.? C'mon man, as good as AB is he won't make that kind of difference. If winning a N.C. is really what Arthur wants then we might as well forget about him. And no I don't really remember the 98' team but I'm sure we had a lot more horses on that team than we will get w/in the next 4 years. I'm not saying we can't be a top 25 team, but as far as recruiting go's, there is no way we can compete w/ the Florida's and the OU's of the world. I'm just being a realist. sorry if that upsets you. And I'm not a fracking ku fan!!

If we get AB and let's just say Bryce likes that and comes too, plus a Harper, O. Hall for two years, Josh free as well, those are some damn fine horses.  If AB wants a NC gift wrapped, and also to get lost in the shuffle, he should go to OU or USC.  But if he wants to be a part of something and get sole spotlight, which I think would be great for his career, he should go to a smaller school.

Under the giftwrapped National Championship scenario, he should go to USC...not OU.  The last time OU won a title was exactly 2 years after KSU should have played for one.  That 2000 OU team was an over achiever made up of Blake's players.  The two other opportunities they've had they have truly gotten crushed...see 2003 Big 12 Championship to K-State, subsequent loss to LSU in Sugar Bowl and the absolute drubbing to the hands of USC in the 2004 National Championship game.

I'm not delusional, but those types of championship runs have to start somewhere.  Look at teams like West Virginia.  Get Slaton and White and others want to play there.  We could definately land some premier high school talent, build on that for a few more years and piece in some exceptional JC players where needed and the skill positions.  This is basically what Snyder did.  Guys like Ben Leber and Monty Beisel were Parade All Americans and the foundation of some very elite runs for KSU.  But it all has to start somewhere....

I agree w/ everything you just said. AB has also said he would like to turn a program around.

A lot can change in just a couple of years if you bring in the right recruits.

K-State in '96 had a nice defense, but that was nowhere near a NC calibre team.  In '98 we obviously had an excellent chance.  OU in '98 got their coach fired.

Brown can't do it by himself, but if getting him convinces a couple of other studs to come along, well...
