MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State senior punter Tim Reyer is one of five Big 12 players and 41 nationally to be named to the watch list for the 2007 Ray Guy Award, given annually to the nation’s top collegiate punter, the Greater Augusta Sports Council announced Monday.

Reyer, a former walk-on, has averaged 44.6 yards per punt so far this season, which is tops in the Big 12 and 15th nationally, and has dropped six of his 14 total punts this year inside the 20-yard line.

The Wamego, Kan., native has paced the Wildcats in punting for the last three years, was a member of the Ray Guy Award watch list in 2006 and ranks among the K-State career leaders in attempts (4th - 176), yardage (4th - 7,336) and average (5th - 41.7).

The Ray Guy Award is determined by a national selection committee made up of sports writers, college football coaches, sports information directors, past Ray Guy Award winners, and members designated by the Greater Augusta Sports Council.

Among the statistics used to identify the Ray Guy Award winner are total yardage punted, number of times a punt is downed or kicked out of bounds inside the opponents 20-yard line, net average, average returned yardage, and percentage of punts not returned. It is also of importance for the award winner to display team leadership, self-discipline, and to have a positive impact on the team’s success.

that is a classic! BTW, wasn't it Reyer who was watching that previous play on the Jumbotron and didn't make it out to the field to recieve the snap of the ball? THAT was embarassing.
