Be sure to get a lot of mileage out of that link for the next week or so. Beyond then, you'll never want to see it again.
They don't disclose their SOS formula, but I feel fairly secure dismissing any system that gives Kent State the top spot after demolishing mighty Delaware State.

It's not as if there aren't other sites ranking ksu's SoS low. Maybe this one is a little more trustworthy?
Sagarin:
SoS rating (rank)
ksu: 55.56 (150)
ku: 52.86 (166)
http://www.usatoday.com/sports/sagarin/fbt07.htm?loc=interstitialskip

Sagarin has ku ranked 28th and his MOV ranking ku 8 but 54 in the BCS ranking.
Sagarin has KSU ranked 72th and his MOV ranking of 77 but 73 in the BCS ranking.
Missouri State and San Jose State are ranked below 140 and Auburn 57th.
Auburn's dropping has hurt us tremendously, but a win against Texas and ku will fix that.
-
We play 2 road OOC games. You don't play any. That makes a huge difference IMO.
-
72th?? Have you developed a Lou Holtz lisp?
-
Yeah, I'd put a lot of faith in that particular poll. Look at Western Kentucky who had the 4th highest strength of schedule in the entire country look at who they played. WEST Virginia Tech and Eastern Kentucky (who they beat 87-0) Yeah, Hillwalking I'd say you really nailed us on that one.
HINT: Just because a website throws a poll up there, you probably ought to do a little analysis into it to see if it's worth anything before just taking it at face value.

No, not really, at least not for what the original poster was aiming for. If you want to use SOS as a barometer (or indictment) of a non-conference schedule, you have to examine only those games (all of them), ideally at the end of the season. KSU closes the season at Fresno State; meanwhile, a lot of schools have already begun conference play. That introduces a lot of skew.
I find the concept of "SOS thus far" utterly meaningless. It can oscillate wildly every week, but the schedules aren't changing. The teams aren't changing. The fluctuation is mostly a consequence of which games were played which week.
I would probably be more interested to see a SOS that incorporates the entire season's schedule, where the only change from week to week would be the game results of that week. It would also demonstrate how useless any SOS valuation is in Week 3.
And shame on me for wasting more than one line on a troll.
