Aqib Talib #1 Cornerback in College Football

Kansas cornerback Aqib Talib has never faced a wide receiver he didn't have the ability to defend.

Then again, he's never had to line up against himself.

Talib possesses so much versatility that he actually has caught more touchdown passes than he's allowed this season. His combination of cover skills and receiving prowess has moved him to a No. 1 spot in the Rivals.com College Football Power Rankings, which measure the top players and coaches at each position.

He's much better at WR than he is at CB.    Mangino just can't get anything right.

I could be the #1 corner in the country if I played ku's schedule.  I really think I could shut down those little 1-AA retards.

BTW in order to fend off the smack-talking that is bound to come from BMW and the like... I have a couple of recent memories of 3 Heisman trophy winners who came across our path and left battered and bruised.

Ricky Williams 36 (+-) yds rushing
Carson Palmer 18-36 passing (approx)
Jason White Uhhh All Around Ass Kicking

These guys were (supposedly) the best players out of all the players in college... we'll see how things turn out!

Talib is good no question about that.  Jordy will have his hands full trying to get open against him it will be a fun match up to watch.  What I'm more interested in is how ku's number 2 corner (a true frosh) matches up with Deon Murphey.  I think that match up is cleary in KSU's favor when ku is in man.

He never faced someone he couldnt cover?  IS that why he didn't line up much against bowman, so the statement would stay true.  I'll give you that he is good but ku needs to play someone with a pulse before you can put a measuring stick to any of this

Fair enough, but they didn't just pull his name out of the air after the last 3 weeks.  He was ranked in their top 5 and has climbed his way to the top.  I am impressed little old Kansas has the best cornerback in the nation over the likes of USC, Florida, Texas, ect.

That is an excellent point... we see how his career ended (not counting NFL) Good call Legore - that might be better, and if Talib moves over - Jordy will go nuts.

Our true freshman will probably be our nickel corner by then.  Our Juco DB who was injured to start the year is expected back for this week and may be starting by Oct. 6th.  That being said, our true freshman DB has held up really nicely against two pass heavy offenses in Toledo and Central Michigan.

And you can't blame Bowman going apecrap on Talib.  Please do blame our coaching staff for the inability to adjust and Jerome Kemp for being a slow, short, horrible in coverage safety.

That being said, our true freshman DB has held up really nicely against two pass heavy offenses in Toledo and Central Michigan.

How many fracking times do we have to point out to you mongoloids from ku that you have played no one. Just because a team passes alot does not mean they are good at it or even have many Big 12 caliber athletes to measure your talent against. That being said, Talib is a beast, I expect us to not throw his way too much.

You do realize there are more MAC quarterbacks in the NFL than Big 12.  A MAC QB has won a Super Bowl.  A Big 12 QB has never done that.  Central's QB was the MAC's player of the year last year.  He threw for 364 yards against Purdue.  The MAC has no apologizes to make for the QB's that have gone through that league.

Oh, and do tell me about the awesome QB's you have played from Auburn, Missouri State, and San Jose St.

Aqib probably wants nothing to do with difference maker Nelson.

Yeah that was Gordon but Talib got used pretty good in that game by Jermaine he beat him on a couple of fades.  Beat him all day really but we never had time to get him the ball.   But in fairness that was one of Talib's first games at corner after moving from safety and he's improved leaps and bounds since then.  I do still think the way to beat him is with a smaller quicker receiver like Morreia though.

If they leave him on Jordy all day then Jordy needs to be physical with him and try to wear him down.  Move Jordy around all over the field and make him chase him and everytime there is a running play you let Jordy block him and pound on him.  Jordy is as physically strong a WR as you'll find.

I once remember some Texas fans saying Aaron Ross was a great cover corner and he could cover anybody.

Yamon showed him otherwise.

Nelson may do the same against Texas and (if McKinney doesn't cause him to get killed) probably also against ku.
