Because he's fat

It is only fair to have a bye before the Superbowl, NFL does it.

I think we should start doing the same thing but we haven't had that opportunity.

We have a winner.

Bill Snyder used to do that with ku just about every year, before we didn't have to anymore..

Sure, but Snyder knew the important of the game, as far as ku views us, it's just another game.

Good to know that in Dax's ku obsessed world, 2 out of 6 years=always.

The ku fan on the KSU board calling me obsessed.

What does Mark Mangino always schedule a bye week before KSU??
he doesn't; the big 12 does. Get over it.
-
For the same reason we scheduled a bye before Texas.

Ah, that's not entirely the Big 12's doing, but good effort none-the-less.

True...cause Texas is our real rival

So you're telling me that Mangino Chose schedules for... essentially everyone they play this year?
-
Because he's smart and knows what it will take to keep his job. Last year they had us and MU back to back. He now has a bye week before our game and MU is now in arrowhead, last game of the year after a home game against ISU. The more and more I look at ku's schedule and how it sets up, if ku doens't win at least 8 games this year, they should quit football.

No . . . but you're telling me that it was just a matter of shear chance that ku just happened to have bye weeks prior to the KSU game two years in a row. That's not the case.
-
Never said it was shear chance; every coach in the Big 12 had to agree on these schedules and the Fat man didn't personally pick when and where ku was playing.
The only statement I'm making is that bitching about this is retarded.

LOL . . . the Big 12 Schedule is known several years in advance, and the OOC schedule (like this year) can be set up to ensure a bye week.
-
Are you out of your mind. He needs an extra week to counter Ron "Scary Smart" Prince's genius gameplan. I'm telling you, Ron Prince is quite possibly the best coach since Bear Bryant.
-

Good point; was mangino even around when this schedule was set up?
and the OOC schedule (like this year) can be set up to ensure a bye week.
So, you're criticizing Mangino because he didn't schedule his bye week in the middle of his OOC schedule as opposed to before a conference game? Just as retarded.
Look, I hate ku, But the Bye week before ku's superbowl argument doesn't have a leg to stand on. Complaining about it makes us look as dumb as ku fans.

Dax whats with you and posting about the gays all the time?

1. Big 12 conference Schedules were not made 6 years in advance, until just recently.
2. Who said I was complaining about it??

I changed it, reread.

I better get some water on this reel.

So; this is going no where. Maybe I'm confused about the point of this thread. Humor, I know. Fishing? It's not the off season anymore - surely you can find betting things to occupy your time.
Do you believe that Mark Mangino held sole responsibility for having a Bye week before KSU last year as well as this year?
If so, do you think he should have scheduled a OOC game during that bye week so that his bye week would have been within the first 4 weeks of the season?
Surely you can see why I think this line of thinking doesn't make sense.
-
So do you think that having a bye week prior to KSU two years in a row was somehow the random output of a computer two years in a row??
Can any of engineering/math geeks calculate the odds on that??
-
Would you prefer that ku have a bye week before we play Florida International?
-
I have no preference Captain Argyle.

I usually disagree with you but I gotta agree with this statement.

I see BMW got his band up and running...

Yes. I am; because that was clearly stated by the big 12 on how the schedules were selected. A computer output several possibilities for schedules and the coaches decided which ones would be used. As far as I know, no 1 coach chose schedules for all of the Big 12; and the only control that any program has over scheduling is over Non-Con games. So the Athletic Dept's of each school had the decision to leave the bye week where the pre-determined Conference schedules placed them, or filled that week with an OOC game and had the Bye week within the first 4 weeks.
I'm not gonna raise a stink about any coach not using his bye week the week before a Non-Con. game because it would be stupid waste a bye week in such a manor.

Why are you forcing logical arguments into the hands of ku supporters?

My memory might be faulty but I believe the reason that ku got this bye week before our game is because they moved the Missouri game to Thanksgiving Weekend.
-
I believe that's right . . . they did agree to change the MU game last year, which essentially made room for the bye week.
Dam Willie, why is it so freaking hard for you to understand that you can manipulate a schedule to ensure bye weeks??

Have you ever heard of the term "competitive advantage?"

Have you ever heard of the term "competitive advantage?"
Having a coach that weights 1/4 of a ton is not a competitive advantage. It is called being FAT.

His obesity didn't stop him from coaching circles around Ron Prince last year.

Dude that is not brains down there.
How many times has Mangino ran circles around Mack Brown?

You are more correct, Willie. It's the Big XII administration and the opportunity to capitalize on TV Revenue payouts rather than any one head coach or his school's influence. That was the entire reason for the Big XII moving the 2005 ISU-ku game to the weekend after Thanksgiving.
Ditto for their 2006 MU game. irrc, that was even a MU home game.
