Title: Hockey in Topeka
Post by: Saulbadguy on September 12, 2007, 09:34:25 AM
For the board members living in Topeka:

There is another exhibition game tonight @Landon Arena, 7:05 PM featuring your Topeka Roadrunners!

I went last night and had a blast.  Only $5.00 to see a pretty well disciplined, and fast hockey team.  The season home opener is September 28th vs the Alaska Avalanche, tickets start at $6.50.  Please support your local hockey team!

Hopefully this team will survive in T-town.

This level of hockey will probably work out.  It's still good, fundamentally sound hockey, but the players aren't paid salaries, just receive a stipend, and we have "host families" that house them here in T-Town.  Alot of these players from the NAHL go on to Division 1 schools, and that is the goal of this league.

The Scarecrows and Tarantulas averaged around 1.8k a game.  The Roadrunners in Sante Fe just averaged a tad over 400.  The owner said they need around 800 per game to turn a profit.  Shouldn't be a problem, IMO.

I'm goin' with a group of friends on the 28th I think.

Talked them into a Tarantula game a couple years back and they all loved it. Sat on the glass and saw a game winner in OT, so they're hooked.

Anyway tickets are incredibly cheap so go check it out.

I used to go to Thunder games when I was in high school. The tickets were cheap and it was easy to smuggle in alcohol, which is a major selling point for high schoolers.

you should have worked on getting laid in highschool.
smuggling booze into events is easy. especially back in the mid 90's before bag searches.

Dude, I started going to the games because I wanted to get laid. I met this fine-ass chick that f-ing loved hockey for some reason. I had never seen a hockey game on TV, let alone in person before I met this broad.
She gave me a mild interest in hockey and I gave her crabs. I think we're even.

I'm actually serious dude. I think she just wanted to have sex with the entire Thunder roster and knowing this girl she probably did.

Don't duck with me mister. I played on the WSU hockey team from 1979 - 1992. I had to quit because practices were interfering with my ability to watch Full House.

One time I had a dream that the Olsen twins, BTK, and Pauly Shore were riding dolphins around in outer space while I collected the dolphin turds using a giant net and a shoe box. Man, if only that were real, ya know?

I would have loved to seen that.

Exactly what did you take before that dream?
