I hope to dear god he isnt a flop. I havnt seen him do anything in a game yet. Whenever I watch him on defense he really doesnt do anything, he just stands around and lets people block him
What are your opinions?

I haven't really seen him much. When Ian Campbell's in the game, Smoke isn't, and Ian's in a LOT(with good reason.)
I guess we'll see what happens.

You're a name copier.

Am not.
Smoke will be fine.

As you watch when he's on the field, Smoke is lost as hell. I wouldn't say that Chris is the smartest football player and could pick up D-1 football in his first season here. He has the talent, and that why he's on the field. Just dont look for the really big impact from Chris until probably next season.
Pure athleticism is why Chris is on the field and getting PT.

lack of depth especially now that moore is gone is also a reason

It took Jackson how long to get comfortable last year? He was getting far more playing time than Patterson at a position that takes far less preparation. Patterson is probably going to make more bad plays that good ones this year. We have to bite the bullet. It is only a few practices but getting these guys in for spring is such a big thing. They can get their feet wet and then review their performance and prep accordingly all summer. Chris isn't the brightest kid on the team and just running around smashing people doesn't get it done at this level. Look at the guy he is replacing, Moore. He wasn't at KState for spring and he wasn't getting a ton of time. This year he was a big time weapon for us. I expect the same for Chris.

Make it real simple, make him a rush specialist and use him on obvious passing downs.
-
Then you lose a big part of the 'surprise' element of this defense that is being publicized as one that can bring pressure from everywhere and you don't know who it will be.
-
You're so right. No one would expect the OLB in a 3-4 to blitz on third and long.

Yeah cause we never bring a middle backer instead while dropping the outside backer into coverage.

What did moore do other than rush the qb. Not much.

Not when Moore was on the field we didn't.
It sure hamstrung him, didn't it.

I think we just remember Moore rushing the QB because he was in Cox's jock (no pun intended) the entire night. But IIRC, he was inches away from deflecting a 3rd down pass on AU's final drive (but maybe that was Walker).

Quit trying to ruin his point that Moore did nothing ever but rush the QB.

Keep thinking that the best option is to use lesser athletes in obvious passing situations so we can "surprise" the offense.
