Title: First team defense allowed 0 touchdowns against SJSU
Post by: WildCatzPhreak on September 11, 2007, 01:10:18 PM
Anyone that was at the game already knew it, but the receivers leg was out of bounds when he made the catch.

And the whole thing about not being allowed to go out of bounds and then come back in and make a catch without 'reasserting yourself.'

(Receiver having his leg waaaay over the white line)

(Receiver's leg STILL over the white line with possession of the ball.)

Not that it matters really, but just a FYI.

I was wondering if the touchdown pass by Josh that was called back was in or not?

The official ruling says that once the two players make contact and one is forced out by another, the reciever may come back in bounds and catch the ball. It's not like the NFL where once a player is out he's an ineligible reciever. You're right though, it looks like his foot is clearly out on the second pic.

I perceived it as and I believe the replay official viewed as the two players bumped driving the SJSU player out of bounds...yes, his foot did touch the line BUT his foot was raised and his knee re-established himself in the field of play when he made the reception.

I didn't see any issues w/ it.  TD SJSU.

Now Gonzo's catch...I don't know how that wasn't a TD.

In the second picture there are turf nuggets flying(hence the shady blackness on the white line by his foot) where his foot was sliding.  His foot was still in contact with the white line in the second picture.

Not that it really matters.

And yeah, that TD catch was in easily.  Knee was down past the line with the upper body in the endzone.  I don't get how they put that on the one.  Josh had 2 passing TD's in that game.

..Again, not that it matters because Josh scored on a 'sneak' (LOL at Josh just standing up and holding it over the endzone line above the D-line's heads, 6'6 QB  ) but it makes for some interesting conversation during the week.

Is this thing on?

I personally think the back judge just simply hates McKinney.

and it took the line judge a full two seconds to signal the TD after Josh's go-go gadget arms stretched over the plane by three feet.

Gotdamn the whole ref staff was hellbent on &@#%ing us over last Saturday.
