Criticizes Prince and says should have used a Tightend or H-back to chip on that F-er Groves. Should have won that game. Keitz agrees. Said you can't win throwing that much. Holthas says you can but you need to block that D-end.
This was a mental error by our O-coordinator.
No mention of it by the media. No mention of that error by Prince. Swept under the rug.

Are not Holthas and Keitz considered the media?

Retards. We damn near did.
-
Sorry. Keitz said that.
Holthas said you can but needed to block that fast son of a bitch.

MH is correct. Duh. Look for it next time (any1 notice all the shotgun?)

I agree with what they said about scoring in the redzone. When we get inside the 5, we have to be able to power it in. I don't like the idea of trying to always throw it in on the 2 or 3 yd line.
stick a linebacker in as a full back and power it in every now and then.
-
I agree with the thought that we lost the second they scored that offensive touchdown, because we had to play rushed and from behind.

Cire gave a pretty good hypothesis for why the coaches didn't give Alesana help. Next time they will probably try something different but putting someone there to block was going to take away another receiver for Josh. We weren't going to be able to throw it deep so the staff was probably thinking that Josh would be able to deliver the ball before Groves could get to him. They were obviously wrong and I'm sure they will do something about it next time. Remember, this coaching staff is still inexperienced. We will have to watch them make mistakes like this every now and then. The coaches that don't repeat these mistakes are the good ones.

That's what I said. But I don't think Alesana will have the same problems again. Maybe against UT or NU.

Chipblock. Still not buying the explanation. Holthas is pretty smart.

I like it. Several screenpass plays leave no option for TE or RB blacking especially on the ends.

True. The best football minds always make the best commentators.

I don't and it ended up a loss. I am concerned with the WCO and lack of blocking.

Alesana looked decent the first 3 quarters. Was it just a lack of conditioning, or what?

I think it had a lot to do with how much pressure they put on us once they realized Josh was limping around. He probably also got extremely frustrated after all of the false starts with the crowd noise. Just a guess though..

This is getting too much attention. We were already behind when that play happened and no matter what we did it was going to be very tough to drive the field in that circumstance. Groves got 2 sacks wich is the only two sacks Auburn got and he only beat Alesana on one of those plays. It's not like he set some kind of sack record or something.
On the run game people just don't run the ball on Auburn much. NU couldn't do it last year in the bowl game and teams like LSU and Florida didn't really do it either. We went with the short passing game to control the ball and it worked for the most part. Needed to get one more score on the boad and couldn't do it. Penalties had a lot to do with that I think more so then play selection.
Certainly would have been nice to have been able to punch it in the red zone but we only took one snap inside the 5 all night long and it was third down from about the 3. They make it sound like we had all these chances to punch it and couldn't do it. Not many teams are going to run on 3rd and goal from the three against any kind of decent defense.

OP, I'm just curious. Do you ever have your own opinions or do you just regurgitate what you hear on 810 all the time?

What's wrong with informing people that missed the interview? Big RP fan?
Yeah, i never post an opinon.

I didn't re watch the game but freeman's lack of mobility after he tweeked his ankle or knee was the biggest problem. No matter what squawks or nubbs say he showed esp in this game that he is very moble and very accurate on the roll. I'm not sure that doubling that dude would have made a whole lot difference when we was lining up so wide. He was just better than anyone we had. Derrick thomas got doubled every play and still registered a ton of sacks in his career. Same with suggs when he was at AZ st.
We couldn't run on them, i'm not sure that the very best ksu rushing teams would have had a whole lot of luck running on them. See 02 texas/ 04 Ohio State. The plan was clearly to dink and dunk them. that went south when freeman was unable to move or roll out.

Why don't you recap the whole interview then, rather than only the negatives? Holthaus also said our team speed was incredible, and that Prince's coaching job for the most part was good. Said K-State is definitely on its way back.
Speaking of "sweeping under the rug," op...sheez.

that was the first time since 03 that we looked as fast as a "good" team.

Just remember that Mitch is still bitter that KSU didn't hire him to be the AD when Urick left.

QFT. Lot's of things played into that last series. Alesana was obviously winded, the crowd noise was much greater than it had been much of the game, and maybe most importantly a huge part of our gameplan going in was taken away. When Auburn figured out that we weren't going to take chances moving Freeman in the pocket b/c he was dinged, they were able to use Groves on the edge to exploit the issues above mentioned with Alesana.
Besides, IMO that is not the drive that "lost" us the game. Sure, we had a chance to tie/take the lead back, but the drive that really cost us was the one before where we needed to use the clock but couldn't manage a first down. We overcame the roughing the kicker to get the ball back, but couldn't move the football despite decent field position. That was what allowed Auburn to basically have a final chance to win the game, and that is not something you want to do against a decent team in their stadium. If you keep giving people chances, eventually they'll probably take advantage.
Part of that was the lack of a running game, but we knew that going in. We weren't able to maximize the short passing game at that point thought b/c we couldn't get Freeman moving. We were able to get a lot of people open during the course of the game b/c of Freeman's ability to buy extra time, sometimes by design and sometimes on his own. Plus, had he not had the slide issue, we may have been willing to run Freeman again on a draw, which was going to be open the way Auburn was defending us.
If we are going to pin this loss on "one thing" (which IMO is silly in the first place) I have to say that if Freeman doesn't tweak whatever he tweaked we win this game. His lack of mobility put is in a huge disadvantage, especially considering that this was a big part of our gameplan going in to negate Auburn's rush was to get him moving. A close #2 would be the number of penalties which really came back to bite us down the stretch and flip flopped the field position advantage into Auburn's favor.

I think it's clear that Alesana struggled with the transition from JC to big time.
He didn't look physically ready to play a full 4 quarters, and also looked like it was the first time he ever played on a silent count. I doubt there were any games in JC in front of 80K.
The penalties were in his head, and he was a step late off the snap. Going against Groves split out as wide as he was, that wasn't going to work.
