@ Auburn (Loss, but I mean, we already thought we were going to lose)
San Diego State (Easy win)
Missouri State (Easy win)
@ Texas (Still predict a loss, but I believe we have a great shot at beating them again. Still, they have a blackout vs us :ohno:)
Kansas (Before I thought it was 50/50 but we eventually pull it out, but I now believe we will win easily)
Colorado (Still predict easy win)
@ Oklahoma State (First I predicted loss, but now I will say this is a toss up. We moved the ball better on a better defense)
Baylor (Easy win. REVENGE :curse:)
@ Iowa State (Easy win, before I thought it was a toss-up)
@ Nebraska (Loss, but like vs. Texas we have a shot)
Missouri (I thought we would likely lose, but this is a toss-up IMO)
@ Fresno State (Easy win)
I think we go 8-4, with losses to Auburn, Texas, OSU, and Nebraska.

Love this thread. My predictions are probably going to stay the same, but we'll see.
My updated predictions on our schedule are coming.
-
San Jose State.
-
I think we can have a chance to win any game now. I'd probably give us a better shot of beating OSU now.
-
San Jose State.
I know what you are saying, QFT.

@ Auburn (Loss, :curse:)
San Diego State (Win, close in the first quarter.)
Missouri State (Easy win)
@ Texas (Loss)
Kansas (Win)
Colorado (Win)
@ Oklahoma State (Win)
Baylor (Win)
@ Iowa State (Win)
@ Nebraska (Toss up game. The new OSU game where teams are pretty even. Right now a loss.)
Missouri (Win)
@ Fresno State (Win)
9-3 (6-2) Right now I'm saying a close loss to NU, in the running for the Big XII north championship.
-
Hmmm...if our run D stays this good, it should keep us in the game vs. NU.
-
San Diego State -close win
Missouri State (Easy win)
@ Texas (Loss)
Kansas (Win)
Colorado (Win)
@ Oklahoma State -loss
Baylor (Win)
@ Iowa State (Win)
@ Nebraska -loss
Missouri -loss
@ Fresno State -loss
dont kill me. just what im feeling.

auburn is one of the worst offenses you will play all year. they are very bad. and you think doing well vs their run game means you should do ok against nebraskas? please

Nobody cares that you beat Nevada. Just an fyi.
-
It totally depends on our O-line. Granted Auburn's defensive line is one of the best in the nation, but we were getting abused handily(especially Alesena.) We've gotta do something to fix it, even if it's using a RB as a blocker instead of a receiver(T-Gunn's one good attribute.) Alesena just became totally ineffective at the end of the game last night. I was surprised he wasn't subbed out because he was obviously done for the night.
Other than that..I was worried about our nose tackle, but they did a very good job against an Auburn team that loves to run, run, and run some more. Freeman looked poised and performed pretty well overall.
I too think we win more than I predicted earlier, probably at 8 games, possibly even 9.

No, we will BEAT Nebraska because if you really believe you can play that way against every team, go back to last year.
You don't look much different than last year at all.

If you recall, we didn't have a backup LT on the depth chart. Alesana played pretty well all game until the end when he was running out of gas. I was actually pretty impressed with his play until the end. Pretty impressed with the line as a whole. It might have been different if Freeman would have still been able to move out of the pocket towards the end.

Baylor (Win)

7 wins. Although I still think that ku will give us all we can handle, win at osu for the 8th.
-
I give you guys until the Texas game before you start seriously breaking down physically (and mentally). With little depth on your roster its just a matter of time. There's a lot of teams that come out and play their asses off during the first week or two then fall apart down the stretch. Yours is one of them that's going to happen to.

@ AU - L
SJSU - W
MSU - W
@Tex - L
ku - W
CU - W
@ OSU - Toss up*
Baylor - W
@ ISU - W
@ NU - L
Mizzou - Toss up **
@ Frez - W
* - (Think we're better than them, but they've got talent and we still haven't proved we can win/finish on the road.)
** - They're more talented, but their coach sucks and we own them at home.
So possible 9-3, 8-4, or 7-5, but I said 8-4 at the beginning of the year so I'm sticking to that. I think 9-3 is a better possibility than 7-5 though, especially if the AU game gave us big time road confidence.

Alesana was getting pushed around by a 1st round draft pick. They mismatched him on purpose after all of those damn offsides calls they figured his inexperience would help them and it did. I think he's a good guard overall when he figures out when to jump.

San Diego State (Win 38-7)
Missouri State (Win 49-10)
@ Texas (Loss 27-20) (ehh. I don't know they looked pretty bad against Ark. State)
Kansas (Win 21-3)
Colorado (Win 30-21) (If CU was as luck as they were the other day it could be a toss-iup)
@ Oklahoma State (Win 33-28) (Same story good offense, terrible defense)
Baylor (Win 38-17)
@ Iowa State (Win 29-6)
@ Nebraska (Wow. This will be a swing game, but we will say a loss)
Missouri (Win 28-25) (Pinkle can't really be trusted)
@ Fresno State (Win 35-18)
10-2.

Wow.... keep the jokes coming.
ku will handle K-State just like we did last year. We improved in every aspect while K-State is about on par with where you were last season. Your o-line still sucks and your QB still can't throw a TD to save his life. I'm thinking ku wins by about 3 TD's again this season. We just beat a team that finished 10-4 and won a bowl game last year 52-7.
52-7.
-
6-6 We still can't run the ball, can't pass block unless Freeman's rolling the pocket and we still find ways to self destruct. (I.E. roughing the punter to give the ball back and give up the winning drive).
The Kool-Aid is awfully strong in this thread.

We just beat a team with a brand new coach, that finished 10-4 last year, whose biggest win was Toledo (who beat us which means they were good last year), and won a bowl game last year against Middle Tennessee St, 52-7. :kugayfight:
Fixed it
W against CMU <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Having AU beat in their house
-
My prediction stays the same. After we beat Texas last season Coach Prince said that we wouldn't have won that game if we hadn't lost to Louisville early in the season. That tempts me to change one of my Big XII losses to a win but I'm not sure which one. So here's the official prediction:
at Auburn L
San Jose State W
Missouri State W
at Texas L
Kansas W
Colorado W
at Oklahoma State W
Baylor W
at Iowa State W
at Nebraska L
Missouri W
at Fresno State W
9-3 (6-2)

6 different players scored TD's for ku. Two different guys ran for over 100 yards. The o-line is improved. The defense is improved. The coaching has improved. Seriously, if we beat your sorry asses by 3 TD's last season with Nick Q as o-coordinator, we should win by at least that much this season in Manhattan.
BTW, Dezmon Briscoe's first catch ever was a TD. Where was Lamark Brown?

You honeslty think your running game is going to be improved? And maybe you didn't catch it, but Freeman threw over 30 completions last night.

You still have no evidence that you can win on the road either. You haven't scored a td in Manhattan since '97.

This will be ku's first away game in a very hostile environment, having never faced a defense as fast as ours all season. We will have faced Auburn and Texas, and considering we didn't get beat up too bad against Auburn's scary defense, we should be fine and dandy after the Texas game.
I mean seriously, Central Michigan. I know they won ten games and won their bowl game, but this is a summary of their wins:
A close win at home over a 5-7 Akron team.
A close win on the road over a 1-11 Eastern Michigan team. (I'm assuming road games in the MAC/WAC wherever is a little different than @ Auburn)
Beat a 5-7 Toledo team on the road.
An ugly game vs. a 5-7 Ball State team.
Blowout vs. 4-8 Bowling Green at home.
Beat a 1-11 Temple team on the road.
Blowout vs. 8-5 Western Michigan at home. OK, nice win. First vs. a winning team.
Win on the road vs. 2-10 Buffalo.
Win vs. 9-5 Ohio in MAC championship.
Win vs. a horrible 7-5 Middle Tennessee team.
Not a good opponent to judge from.
A neutral game featuring KSU-ku would be a close game, but at home, it will be all KSU.

I love it when ku whips a MAC team at home and they think they are much improved a good team. See 2004
I still think we will be a 7-5 team, but i think our chances of getting that 8th win are better now. It is only one game, but we played much better than i expected.
-
Sorry, this isn't '04. ku is much better. Deny it all you want.
There were K-State fans predicting Central Michigan to win against ku, and now they're saying Central Michigan's just a cupcake. Not one K-State fan predicted a 52-7 ass-whipping. It shows obvious lack of FBIQ.
Make no mistake, if K-State just beat Central Michigan 52-7, and Freeman had 260 yards and 4 TD on 20 completions, this board would be a full-out circle jerk. I didn't see many K-State fans feeling sorry for ku when we got absolutely screwed at Nebraska last season in an OT loss. A loss is a loss right???

Well, every single ku fan except you predicted a blow-out loss for us yesterday. They expected Freeman to be responsible for 5 turnovers and for us to be very suck. (OK, Freeman had 3 TO's but none were really his fault).
If Freeman would have torched CMU, we would be happy of course, but not at all convinced we are good yet. We destroyed UNT 54-7, so a win vs. CMU wouldn't have shown anything. Playing in front of that hostile crowd (top 10 toughest stadium) and almost pulling off the upset...we know where we stand. Offense needs work, but we could actually move the ball up and down the field on that ridiculously fast defense, and our defense performed as expected.
ku vs. NU...IIRC, it was NU that almost screwed themselves over, followed by ku screwing themselves over. Wasn't NU up a decent amount?
-
When you fumble the ball out of the endzone and don't have posession it's usually a touchback. At Nebraska it's a 1st and goal.
LOL @ Central Michigan/North Texas comparison. You're talking about a team that went 10-4 last year and won a bowl game. North Texas is notorious for sucking major balls. Even with that... a 52-7 win shows domination and shows that ku has superior talent on both sides of the ball. That wasn't the case last year against teams like Louisiana-Monroe and Toledo.
Another thing... this is a completely new offense and it's night and day between what we had with Nick Quartaro. I mean, when your All-American CB is coming in and scoring 50 yard TD's on offense, you know you're good. ku has more weapons and more depth than we've had since the top 10 finish in '95. I know you didn't see the game and/or don't care, but ku is improved. You can write it off if you want to.

North Texas was 7-5 and the Sun Belt champs the year before we blew them out 54-7.
Just a FYI, these Mac/Sun Belt teams get really bad in a hurry if they lose their stud players.
Auburn? Naw.

Central Michigan did pretty well agaist Kentucky and Boston College (two bowl teams last season). They have good athletes and a solid QB who threw for over 3000 yards last season. They could be worse, that's all I'm saying.
This ku team is much more talented and solid up front than the '05 K-State team. Your o-line has been a weakness for years now.

Stunner PLEASE bet BMW a large sum of money on the ku K-State game. ku has never shown an ability to win on the road. Let alone at a rival's packed stadium. You would rake it in.

Immediate history would suggest that ku is the better team (39-20) and I won a nice little chunk of change from 'stunner last year when ku took you guys to the woodshed.
This year won't be much different. ku is a completely different football program at this point and time. Last year was just a preview of things to come. This team can finish games in the 4th quarter.

Pessimist: 3-9
Optimist: 4-8
This defense won't survive even a moderately decent passing team, out only hope will be to score lots and lots of points which is easier if you have an OL....

No way do we get an easy win versus San Diego State in our next game. As a matter of fact I would bet the house, the car and anything else I have that we will not beat San Diego State next week.

Wow. Stupid and bigoted. Good to know. At first glance I would guess that you were around 14 but unfortunately, I know otherwise.

All of the talk about how well ku plays against non BCS opponents at home doesn't mean ANYTHING until Mangino can start winning on the road. 2 Big XII road wins in his entire tenure. Seriously. And they came against powerhouses Iowa State last year (1-7) and Missouri a few years back(I don't remember their record)
Maybe all that changes this year. I was pretty impressed with the final score against Central Michigan. But as fatty pointed out earlier, 2005 we played a North Texas team, Sun Belt champs who had also absolutely crushed Baylor the year before by like 50 points, and turned around and crushed them in similar fashion.
What happened to our season after that? Well, we started out at OU, thinking we were going to go into Norman and crush them. (They had already lost to tcu that year, and damn near lost to Tulsa.) That was the night of the "invisible punter" where we hiked the ball into our own endzone.(We got crushed.) Ended up with 5 wins that year.
On the flip side, we got abused by Marshall in 2003, and then went on to win the Big XII.
All I'm saying is that, while the win was impressive, you can't really use the turnout of those games to compare yourselves to other BCS teams. Maybe ku wins 11 games this year. Maybe they win 5. You won't be able to tell how you compare to the other Big XII teams until you actually start playing them.
And as I pointed out above, Mangino has to learn to win on the road.

I still say 6-6

Central Michigan has an entire new staff and is a totally different team from last year. Lost a lot to graduation as well. ku put on a good performance but it's obvious Central Michigan didn't come ready to play and is having growing pains with the new staff. They came out and pissed their pants on the road it sometimes happens. Toledo did the same thing in Lawrence a few years ago and got all you guys excited and that team turned out to be the same old ku. Then last year you went out and lost to a lesser Toledo team then the one you spanked so bad. Weird things can happen in college football especially early on in the season.
You beaks need to temper youselves on this one game. Just like we need to temper ourselves as well because opening games in college football are so often misleading. Just look at the freaking Michigan game or the Texas game yesterday. I suppose you ku fans think you're better then both of those teams too? If Michigan were to play App State in a few weeks they would beat them 70-0 but on that one day they lost to them. I remember last year you put a hurting on some patsy in week one and got all big and puffy and then went out the next week and got outplayed and nearly lost to some other crappy mid major. Both ku and KSU fans should be encouraged but neither need to be talking any smack just yet.
-
Bottom Line: ku fans simply cannot predict wins on the road. Not with Mangino as coach. Its laughable to guarantee a win on the road if you are ku. Laughable.
-
I give you guys until the Texas game before you start seriously breaking down physically (and mentally). With little depth on your roster its just a matter of time. There's a lot of teams that come out and play their asses off during the first week or two then fall apart down the stretch. Yours is one of them that's going to happen to.
That is a dumb statement, we play as many different people as any team in the conference especially on defense. We're thin at o-tackle but other then the o-line we rotate pretty regularly at most positions.

No way do we get an easy win versus San Diego State in our next game. As a matter of fact I would bet the house, the car and anything else I have that we will not beat San Diego State next week.
I'll take the bet. How does your wife look?
The wife is pretty hot but you won't be having her. Consider the bet made. What type of car do you drive? Do you even own a house, if so I'll be gracious and rent it back to you for a nominal fee. I'll even through in some reading comprehension classes for you.

Good points by all, and I realize I'm being an over-optimistic homer. I was just awed by the difference in the offense last night. I cannot express to you how much better Warriner is as o-coordinator. It's a huge improvement.
I thought Reesing looked great as well. I know Central Michigan isn't the best secondary we will see this year, but I don't think they're any worse than a team like Iowa State or Baylor. With Reesing at QB, ku has a guy who can run as well as throw at a high level. He's not an NFL prototypical QB like Josh Freeman, but he's a guy that will be a great college QB someday. ku has some weapons and some athletes this year.
I know playing in Manhattan will make a difference, but this team actually played well at Nebraska last season and had a blowout win against ISU. If K-State's o-line doesn't improve in a hurry, ku might have another turnoverfest with Josh Freeman.
-
Since we haven't been a consistent football team for a number of years now, I'm trying to view each game independent of each other. Just because we played well at Auburn (not well enough to win) doesn't mean we'll play with the same intensity vs. San Jose State. We really haven't shown to be that kind of team (from coaches to players). I really don't think Auburn is that good of a football team, but that's the first time in a while that we actually shut down a good (allegedly) rushing offense. I will say that the defense reminded me of how we used to play in that we stopped the run and got beat on some deep passes (Could we please get a tutor to do Josh Moore's homework?). I still say 6-6, 7-6.

You do realize that Auburn, one of the best and fastest defenses in the nation, didn't sack Freeman until the end of the game when they knew KSU had to pass. His only turnover up to that point was a hail mary INT to end the 1st half.

Look at who you are talking to. You can't expect BMW to understand such concepts. As proven on multiple occasions, reality does not register with this guy.
-
Immediate history would suggest that ku is the better team (39-20) and I won a nice little chunk of change from 'stunner last year when ku took you guys to the woodshed.
This year won't be much different. ku is a completely different football program at this point and time. Last year was just a preview of things to come. This team can finish games in the 4th quarter.
So if ku had been playing at Auburn last night, they would have won?

LOL. Consider me welching on my bet. So many people have been saying San Diego State...I must have just gotten too used to it to notice.

This looks like a 7-5 team to me now, which is better than the 4-8 to 6-6 I was afraid of before the season. Let's break down the numbers by percentages, though.
San Diego State .9
Missouri State .9
@ Texas .3
Kansas .5
Colorado .7
@ Oklahoma State .5
Baylor .7
@ Iowa State .7
@ Nebraska .2
Missouri .4
@ Fresno State .6
So that's 6.4 and 5.6 for the year, right between 6-6 and 7-5.

I think I am. Look at the games where I have us at 50% or better to win...we win all those, we go 8-4. I haven't seen enough to think we'll win all those, so I think we go 6-6 or 7-5, but obviously it's within the realm.

Do people realize that we lost to Auburn? Why would the season play out any differently? Hell, if we won why would it play out any differently, except maybe add one more win to your original prediction?
-
Freeman had two INT's and a fumble vs. Auburn. That brings his career total to 6 TD's, 17 INT's. Auburn's defense didn't sack him until the end, but they were consistently getting pressure all night long, forcing Freeman to hit the quick dump off passes.
It looks like some of the K-State fans are the ones who don't know what the hell they're talking about.

You expected us to play the way we did? You are so full of boush..t. Let me kick your ass @ hale library please.

Before you injure yourself trying to pat yourself on the back, let me remind you of something..
Who on ku's defense is of the same caliber of players that Auburn has on its team?
Think hard.. get back to me and let me know if I managed to save damage to your ligaments.

I don't think the loss at AU makes KSU a better team. We had no tendencies for AU to prepare for. IMO, every game will be a dogfight. Yea,we may blow out Mizz St. or even SJSU. But I don't think we can use Saturday's game as a barometer for gaining any more wins this season.
Since we weren't really able to gauge what KSU's rushing attack is going to be like, I find it hard to believe the Cats will be significantly better than last season. Although I thought the OLine performed pretty admirably in a hostile environment, it remains to be seen whether that group will reach our expectations.
Don't get me wrong, I thought Prince had a great game plan and executed nearly perfectly. However, we need to be better on O for this team to move forward. And that starts with the OLine.
On to SJSU.

One more thing:
I hope we find many creative ways to get the rock into DMurphy's hands. That Cat is a blur.

We still lost. I thought we'd get our ass kicked, and we didn't, so yippie for that. It was one game against a team that we obviously have been game planning for since April and Auburn had no tape on our defense. It was just one game.

Ron Prince to Freeman: "Take what they give you."
Freeman did this to the tune of 32 completions, would have been 35 except for Gonzalez's ridiculous drops. Perhaps that was the plan since KSU knew how good Auburn's DL was.
No one in the Big 12, save OU perhaps can match the speed that Auburn had.
-

Yes, because after beating Illinois State by one point last year, when people were bitching I'm sure you were saying, "It's still a win, it's obvious Illinois State have been game planning for since April and Kansas State had no tape on our defense. It was just one game. "

Talib, McClinton, Stuckey, and Rivera are of the same caliber. Auburn's D-ends certainly outclass ku's, but beyond that I don't see that large a talent disparity on D.

No. But that's an example of why we shouldn't look to deep into this game, good or bad. We're really not at a point under Prince (or as a program for the past 3 years) that we can extrapolate from any one game.
-
Okay, if we beat Missouri State by one point, we'll be sure to find you claiming "no worry. it's a W. Disregard everything else."
-
Christ fatty, it was the first game of the season, in game 3 I'd expect something different. If we beat SJSt. by one AND then Missouri St. by one, then you'd have a couple of data points to start calling a trend. I guess I don't like every one running around sucking each other d!cks because we pissed away a game against an overrated Auburn team (albeit on the road and in a tough environment). The one thing I took from this game is that we were able to stop the run against a competent running team, something I don't think we did all last year. We still can't run the ball (although we never really tried).

Please, you just got caught in an embarrassing contradiction. You bitched after last years Illinois state game, and of course the fact that "we didn't have enough data points" didn't matter then did it?

I've become more callous to opening games and much like Josh Freeman, I'm becoming more emotionally nuetral.
Also, I don't really remember bitching about that Illinois State game. Only that I thought we had the most basic offense against them and that their coach was f'ing stupid for going for two. So suck a hard fat one fatty.

:jerkoff: Pretty lame.
