Title: ESPN's coverage...
Post by: DS43 on September 02, 2007, 12:02:17 AM
At least we saw that Red Sox pitcher throw a no hitter right guys?  I mean, wow, a no-fawking-hitter?!!!   Seriously, they played that crap 5 minutes too long and for them to not even show our game in a crappy side box during that crap had us going nuts at home. :banghead:
I swear to god if they panned back to the game with Nick Stringer holding the ball and dancing in the endzone after we just scored I woulda thrown a brick through the TV.  At least we didn't miss anything special  (i think)

Oh and Tyler Hansbrough's dad SUCKS as a football ref

I enjoyed the Hi-Def, but I'm not a fan of watching games on ESPN.  The breaking away to show what's on their other channels, breaking away for 5 minutes during the middle of a drive to show the end of a Red Sox no-hitter (and the celebration afterwards), and the limited number of replays.  I guess I've gotten spoiled by the NFL where almost every down is replayed during the huddle -- thank God for dvr's.

Also -- what was up with the announcer constantly talking about Freeman's ankle?  The sideline reported said it was probably his groin, and he was working some to stretch it out.  Did they ignore what the sideline reporter had to say?  On the field, Freeman would occasionally bend down to stretch it out and the announcer was going nuts "Oh, he can barely walk on that ankle, it just keeps getting worse!!!!'

Since I have never seen a no-hitter, I was estatic to get to see it and the celebration.  Its something you only get to see once, and I will be forever grateful to ESPN for allowing me to be a part of it!

If it were a Royals pitcher throwing a no-hitter, do you suppose they would have broke in with live coverage like that?  A little regional bias on the part of ESPN, perhaps?  Nah, surely not.

Thursday night they broke in to show the Royals ruin a perfect game in the 9th with a walk, and then Sweeney breaking up the no hitter in his first at bat in a month.
:ksu: (Imagine a little KC logo on the sign)

I didn't mind them showing the no-hitter. It was understandable. I was livid when they showed the five minute celebration after the no-hitter.

yeah I was ok at first, but the celebration killed me. You could hear yelling all throughout the ATO house because of it. I hate espn sometimes :curse:
