I have refrained from posting on this site some of the things I've heard. Things that come from people with insiders close to the program. Of course it is all hearsay, but it's coming from Cats, loyal Cats who love this program, people I have known not fabricate or exaggerate their concerns.
I've heard Prince is a taskmaster. No, that is too kind a word. I hear he is a tyrant, a bully, a thug. I hear he only cares about Ron Prince and only cares about what the program can bring him in that regard. I hear that despite the fact that he has media and fans snowed (Mark May saying, "Prince gets that it's not about him!!" for instance), that most of us, to him, are of no more worth than gum on his shoe.
This is all hearsay, I know. I cannot confirm or deny it. I don't want to name sources because they aren't in a position where they can just publicly spout off what they see and know. And a part of me deep, deep in my soul does not want to believe it. I want to think Weiser made the right choice, that Prince has our program heading in the right direction, that most of my misgivings have to do with the fact that I became so comfortable with the soft-spoken, fatherly presence of Bill Snyder and that Ron Prince's style is just culture shock and nothing more.
But when I see players leaving for personal reasons--Kreibel, Moran, Meyer--and assistant coaches packing bags after one season. When I see players with off-field problems getting suspended. When Prince comes out and explains away a lack of focus in public pratice by saying that he had been "working them too hard" because he "had to." He is as good as admitting that he runs them ragged. Yes, they may need work, but did Snyder ever have to do this?
And not only that. Something about Prince has changed. This time last year, he had sold me and thousands of Wildcat fans on his "bold and daring" approch. I thought I saw someone a little like Lou Gossett Jr's character in An Officer and a Gentleman, hardnosed because he had to be but ultimately fair. When you watch that movie, no matter how loud Gossett yells, you never doubt that he still cares about his charges. You see it in his eyes. But I don't see it in Ron Prince's eyes. The Ron Prince I've seen lately looks nervous, pissed off, a little scary. There's something about him that makes me feel ... uneasy.
I'm not getting a good feeling about this season or this Program, and I haven't been for awhile. No, the sky is not falling. Just a weird feeling is all, and if any fellow Cats want to ride my ass for it, so be it. Heck, we may go out and shock the world by taking games we shouldn't and coming away with 8-9 victories. If immediate gratification is all we care about, okay.
But I'm feeling weird, and I don't know why. I hope Prince proves me wrong. I'd love to be eating crow on this in 7-8 weeks.

Maybe Ron Prince is a really great guy and all that stuff is total crap. I don't know. However, if rumors like this keep coming out then Prince could develop a reputation--fair or not--that really hurts his recruiting even more.
A lot of this just looks like normal turnover from players not wanting to adjust to a new coach, but if rumors circulate long enough they become true, even when they are in completely false. Prince may want to address this stuff.

Everybody should put "this is all hearsay" in every post they make. That's a damn fine phrase.

Maybe we could rename this forum to the "The Loyal Cat Lair"
I'm thinking several of Catt Matt's buds are starting to frequent our site.

And a mega-huge LOL @ the Lou Gossett Jr/Officer and a Gentlemen reference. This has to be a joke.

LOL - damn we have an awesome and sexy coach.
-
I'd ignore it. I did when some NU fans complained about players leaving right after callahan was hired.
It's NOTHING to be worried about unless it continues at a HIGH rate after this year I'd say. There will always be some players who leave, no matter how lovable or successful a coach is.

Yeah, there was no "weirdness" at KSU when Snyder took over.

Rutgers was a top ten team in a confrence that was putrid, they were good but with a month to prepare for them they completely outclassed us. Bowl games are a talent equilizer if you have a good coach.

Yes, because Louisville and West Virginia were pathetic :jerkoff:

Will you be back on the bandwagon if he continues to win?
Yes. but we're talking 8-10 win seasons and north championships. Not 6-7 win seasons. I don't want to be missouri, where a nine win season is the zenith of your program.

If a coach goes 6-5 in bowl games, does that make them an average coach?

And all of these years I thought Notre Dame was getting blown out in bowl games because they didn't deserve the BCS bids... Turns out they just had bad coaches.

Pound for pound the Big East is better then the Big 12 right now fwiw.

Christ cire, no it's not the best schedule in history, but it's not a "putrid conference".

It actually looks a lot like the schedules Bill Snyder enjoyed for his first 10 or so years.

STAY OFF THE BANDWAGON THEN!!! Judging a guy who expects something out of his players in his 2nd season is ludicris. I suppose you missed the '04 and '05 seasons... it looked like our guys did NOTHING for endurance training. The continually looked gassed and worthless. Lets not forget that the vulvas who left probably aren't quite used to this kind of work out... as they seemingly arrived in '04 and '05. I just want to see some loyalty to a coach and a work ethic. For anyone who doesnt like prince, go root for Mangina... he is the captain of this ship and we need to support him - end of story.

For some reason, while reading this I thought of the opening sequence to "Enemy at the Gates" where soldiers are lined up - one being handed a rifle, and the next being handed bullets being told to follow the guy with a rifle, until he is shot at which point they are to pick up the rifle and continue fighting. If they retreat, they will be shot.
&@#%ing communist.

OK, OK... I didn't mean to come across as a mindless sheep just following the flock - but dont throw the baby out with the bathwater. What we are doing is 100% speculation, I am just going to give the guy all the rope he needs and either he will lasso some success or he will hang himself. (figuratively speaking, next thing I know, I am going to be compared to some kind of mass-murderer)
BTW give communism a chance... 1 billion people cant be wrong!

Vanro, the Big East has 8 teams. Of those eight teams: Louisville, WV, Rutgers and S FLorida are better then NU. That is half the conference. Is half the Big 12 better then NU? Maybe you are right.
-
Perhaps you should slow down on all of kegaling you have been doing lately.
Rutgers and S FLorida better than Nebraska? I think not.
-

I didn't say that you thought they were...I said they were.
-
Just when you thought you'd seen it all, someone makes the argument that South Florida is better than Nebraska. Hell, even ku was able to beat South Florida last season.
-
No kidding; claiming South Florida is better than nebraska is a bit of a stretch... Better than CU, Hell yes; ISU, Sure; Baylor, maybe; Anyone else? Not likely.
-
Rutgers would stomp a mudhole into NU's ass - from the coach down.
-
West Virginia, Rutgers, Louisville, Pittsburgh, and South Florida are the only decent teams in the Big East.
I'd take Oklahoma, Texas, Nebraska, Texas A&M, and Mizzou over that group any day of the week.

Anytime someone can work a CLASSIC quote from a movie like Animal House, you get a pass... However, you apparently missed the question (jerkoff) Let me repeat myself "Do you think that WVU is better than ANY team in the Big 12?" Apparently vanro031, you have mistaken the word Any for all, if you can provide more thought-provoking posts, please do so.
