Title: Radio coverage in Wichita - email response from Ben Boyle
Post by: dad2six on August 22, 2007, 11:56:04 AM
I sent an email to Weiser a few days ago asking if they could give us coverage on a station other than KFDI 1070 in Wichita.  KFDI shuts their power way down at 5:00pm each day and reception dies at about Maize Rd. in West Wichita (I don't know about the east side).  KFDI has no choice in the matter, it is KSU who would need to find us another option.  Here is the response I received:

Sir,

I was forwarded your e-mail from Tim Weiser regarding our radio network coverage in the Wichita area and I have some good news to share with you.  We have switched stations in Hutchinson to KHMY (93.1 FM) and this signal was confirmed by several members of the Wichita Catbackers as being very strong (day and night) in all parts of the Wichita metro area.  Our previous station in Hutch also did a decent job of covering the Wichita area, but I’m not sure that was common knowledge among our fans in Wichita.  Anyway, this station is much stronger so help us spread the word that 93.1 FM is a new affiliate that helps compliment our AM coverage in Wichita.

Thanks,

Ben

So they've beefed up reception in Wichita by adding a station in hutch?

Does BB expect us to buy this load of horse crap?

What kind of effing monkeys are running the communications department?

I'll sleep better knowing there is an FM signal covering Wichita.

I wouldn't think an FM station in Hutch would have any problems covering Wichita.

Yeah, I think that would be a pretty good solution.

Swartz - probably pretty easy to just check it out for yourself in a week or so.  No reason to get your panties in a wad.  I don't have any reason to doubt him.  It can't get any worse than it is.

93.1 has been solid in Wichita and much of SC KS for many moons

I  Ben's voice.

But good news none the less. Down right pissed me off when you could just heard Wyatt's voice cutting out.

actually, I live in Rose hill, which is south east of wichita (Complete opposite side of Hutchinson) and I get 93.1 in better reception than any other old station that KSU sports broadcast in the Wichita area.  Trust me, This is a huge upgrade. Regardless, I'll be in manhattan for every home game and hopefully won't have to listen to more than 1 or 2 games on the radio.
