Post by: The Manhatter on August 19, 2007, 02:11:48 PM
in trashing KSU' size at DT (296, 304, and 286) he referred to ku '05 260lb DT Tim Allen as a "load".

God bless that BMW.

I though we already established that BMW is a moron who has no idea what he is talking about.

BMW is just some wannabe rich JOCO boy that grew up in the craphole that is Topeka.  Isn't his whore girlfriend the one with the used Beamer?

Funny thing is McClinton is 270 tops.  He's a heck of a player but he's just not all that big.  For some reason ku and NU fans have this weird deal about size.  They think if kids are not 300 pounds they can't play interior line but the truth is most of the top teams in the country have kids in the 280 to 290 range playing in the d-line.  Heck Rutgers was a top 5 defense nationally last year and their starting DT's were both about 260.

With Moran being gone I'm concerned about our depth in there but size wise we're fine.  For all of ku's talk about our D-line I'm not sure what they have on their d-line outside of McClinton that warrants all this smack talk.

ku's starting line goes 240, 290, 285, 260 per their official roster and none of those are actual weights
Our starting line goes 260, 296, 259 and those are actual weights.

ku doesn't have a DT on their roster listed at more then 290 which is fine and pretty normal but I don't know how they can look at that and make fun of our size in the middle?

Legore.  Give McClinton his due...he can play ball.  Outstanding player and he's easily over 290.  I would love to believe he's just 270 but that isn't true.  He's got the required bulk to him and in addition to that he's a helluva football player.

Now you're accurate on the others but leave McClinton out of it.

No he's a heck of a player I agree but about this time last year before the season there was an article about him in the Star and he admitted he was weighing in the 260's at the time.  Unless suddenly as a 5th year senior he's put on 20 plus pounds (unlikely) then I don't think he weighs 290.  If you're explosive and quick you can play at 270 and be a heck of a player at the college level which he is.

How do you figure that ku doesn't give the actual weights and we do?  It could go either way on that one.  A few lbs here or a few lbs there but neither AD is going to add or subtract more than ten pounds.  Although I can see ku adding a few pounds for each player so they can subtract a few from the mammoth of a HC.

Also I do agree with Manhatter on something.  McClinton is pretty darn good.  I think he could go to the NFL(that is a big maybe because of his height which is around 6')

sigh..dumb post..since we all know that McClinton is a good player...and it simply proves our point that you don't have to be 300+ lbs to make plays on either line...at least in the college level. Take a look at the rosters of the BCS Top 10 from last year.

Another midget recruit lesson free of charge hoxx.

Tim Allen was bigger than McClinton.

Listed during the season at 6'1, 290.

That doesn't change the fact that your d-line is horrible and teams will double-team Jackson all game long.

ku won't have to double team Jackson with Anthony Collins on the o-line.  Just look at what he did to Ian Campbell last season.

Fact?

Fact? Do you know what a fact is? It's indisputable...and I'd say there is disputable evidence that our d-line is horrible.

They led the Big XII in sacks...and I. Campbell is one of the best ends in the conference.

here's a fact. 4-4 is a legitmate team goal in Lawrence.

What does race have anything to do with it.

Again, it doesn't matter what position Ian is playing...if the o-line double teams Jackson..or ANYONE...that leaves a one on one matchup..and a wide open blitzer if you send a linebacker or a safety.

This is like explaining how to tie a shoe to a one year old.

After the way your defense played against ku last season, I'm not sure a one year old wouldn't be a better solution at DT.

No one compared them. It was simply to show that an OLB can play defensive end position. Especially when talking about a transition from a 4-3 defense to a 3-4.
