Title: This forum leaves something to be desired
Post by: sts767 on August 18, 2007, 11:55:02 AM
As an Auburn fan I came here hoping to find some meaningful discussion about the upcoming games.  The Washington State fans seemed to have no problem doing that last year.  All there seems to be is a bunch of hatred over misconceptions of the south such as racism and a bunch of stupid iterations of War Eagle.  If anyone has anything meaninful and intelligent to contribute to a discussion about the game  please do so.  At this point I just look at the KSU fans that frequent this board as a bunch of classless hacks.  Someone please prove me wrong.  I can guarantee when you show up in Auburn you will be treated with dignity and respect and as long as you are not acting like a drunk beligerent fool will be very welcomed.  Sure there will be some idiot Auburn fans out there acting like jackasses but the majority will help you to enjoy your visit with southern hospitality.

Also FWIW I invite you to check out the forum at auburnfootball.com,  I have not seen one disrespectful word spoken about KSU and we invite intelligent conversation about the game.

Threads get started with good intentions, as far as I know, and get flamed out by a few trash talkers from both sides of the spectrum.

What would you like to talk about . . . I really enjoy posts about games, and players done by people who likely never played the game, and think they know a lot about the game.   So fire away.

Its still early yet to talk about the Auburn game because this is still alot of uncertainity with positions on our roster.  So, until we have a better idea, then our focus is more about our own team and then other random topics.

Seriously? Man, some people need thicker skins if they let message board banter get to them so much...

And I guarantee if you bring that sally ass talk with you to Manhattan next year you will be probably get beat up.  Or at least someone will pull the classic "stop hitting yourself" routine on you and your buddies.  Grow a pair buddy, we're only joking around.  Also, nice work on noticing the lack of class on this board, it's kind of an ongoing theme.

I was not saying the banter was getting to me, just that it was kind of lame and served no real purpose.  Also, we don't come there next year it is like 2013 for some strange reason but indicating I would get beat up is exactly what I was talking about with te thread quality on this board.

As far as what I would like to talk about is the only player on your team I have ever heard of is the QB Freeman, looks like he has some physical skills and size and did pretty well as a freshman.  Who else you got?  I can tell you the players to watch out for on Auburn that you may not have heard of are Ben Tate and Mario Fanin, two stud running backs one sophmore and one RS fresh.  Are defense has some serious speed and our offensive line obviously has to prove it can replace 4 starters.  If our QB Cox stays healthy we will be real good.  The lack of production last year by him was largely due to a knee injury suffered in the LSU game that limited him for the rest of the season as he basically had to throw from the waste up and that really limited what Auburn could do.  Also our entire team is pretty solid through the 2 deep which I believe is our main advantage over KSU becasue there is not much of a fall off in talent with the 2nd team and lots of subbing keeps us fresh late in games allowing us to win the close ones.

Looking forward to a good game and the early spread I have seen is 13.5 which I believe is pretty accurate.

" If anyone has anything meaninful and intelligent to contribute to a discussion about the game  please do so."

Sorry sts, you are on the wrong board.  That said, I don't know which other board to point you towards.  Pretty much all of K-State boards are lame in this way.

"I really enjoy posts about games, and players done by people who likely never played the game, and think they know a lot about the game. "

I am a huge fan of those posts done by those people who think they really know a lot about an athletic department, but have never actually worked in one NC.

We used to be able to have real discussion about sports around here.  Those days seemed to die with the scout take over and subsquent rebirth as ksufans.com.  Unfortunaltaly the You-Tube generation has pretty much taken over the board from the MTV generation and the attention spans have gotten even shorter (if that is even possible).

Added to the fact that most fans think this will be a very medicore year for us the chances of a real in depth discusion around here is about the same as a national championship if football this year.

Or, it's the f*cking offseason and there's nothing serious to talk about.

I guess I could start another, "how do you feel about Mr. Prince?!?" thread.  It could be serious.

Have you gys been feeding the Auburn fans Figurs' stats and passing them off as Freeman's?   :poundon:  Be nice.

"Those days seemed to die with the scout take over and subsquent rebirth as ksufans.com."

I still cruise scout every once in a while, even was going to post on one of their threads earlier this week.  Until I found out that, despite the fact I was logged in and have posted many times in the past I still needed to wait for a moderator to say it was okay for me to post.  Whaddup with dat!  Someone is on a power trip.
