Our secondary had trouble holding back anyone last year...they flat out sucked for most of the year.

fatty, you should have your balls removed for ranking CU or ku receivers ahead of KSU.
can somebody explain to me what makes ku OL ahead of KSU? Collins? So 1 player out of 5?
They lost 3 interior starters w/ over 110 career starts. ku OL = terrible pre-'06
right now for OL
1) Mizzou
2) NU
3) KSU
4) CU
5) ku
6) ISU
why?
Mizzou returns 3 staters...two of them VERY experienced(Luellen and Speiker are both going into 4th year starting). Gregory is a sweet athlete w/ a big frame at guard. Only weak spot I see could be RT where Dain Wise is slotted to start.
Nebraska. Slauson finally goes to the position he was meant to play. Byford was a sarter last year at center. Both Nicks and Murtha got plenty of action last year and both started at least 2-3 games.
KSU. Bedore is one of the best interior OL in the conference despite Prince's motivational tactics w/ the move of Viers. Stringer was a bright spot last year and one of the best young tackles in the conference. Plenty of starting experience to man the guard positions(including Bedore).
Colorado. Despite the lack of scholarship players they do return a lot of experience between Polumbus, Harrison, and Sanders. Head saw action last year.
Kansas. They are experienced at tackle but that's it. Cantrell has played in some games and even started a few but. You need more than experience at tackle...they were gutted up the middle w/ the loss of 110-plus career starts. Collins could be the best lineman in the conference but one lineman doesn't make up for the other five. Rodrigquez at RT is average.
Iowa State. Lost a ton of players. They just have to start over.

Based on the Spring Game and what I've heard from camp, the Huskers O-Line is looking good, but IMO could fall anywhere in the 1-4 range. They could be amazing, or could just be adequate....lots of talent and depth, but somewhat unproven. The nice thing is that even adequate will be better than we've had the past couple of years adjusting to the WCO and should help the offense a great deal.

You went in-depth right there. We should just go ahead and put KSU 6th everywhere despite finishing tied for 2nd in the North last year w/ nearly everyone coming back.
thanks.

there are plenty of backs in the Big 12 North who could do what Temple's doing in that offense. He gets a lot of plays in space absent of early contact due to the system and the personnel eslewhere. Who do they have after him?
I do like ku's RB's. I like Sharp but more as a situational type back. I loved Boyd-Anderson in last year's class and LOL'ed big time over Reed being ranked higher. He's going to be a good one for them. They have a few other backs will be productive.
I put some thought into my rankings and why I did it.
Somebody might LOL at ku being 2nd in secondary. Well, I'm not impressed w/ NU's secondary and I don't think CU has the explosive athletes ku might possess at safety. I really like some of ku's players in their secondary like Stuckey and Olatian O or whatever his name.
Mizzou is Mizzou...Terrell is talented but they lost experienced players and the corner opposite is gone. They lost two corners they expected to be good players in the past 6-8 months.

You need to stop taking stuff offensively. I think most of the rankings are correct but you cant say that our oline is as good as you say it is until they actually show it. That was our biggest weekness last year besides freemans inconsistencies. IMO we would have been on the brink of top 25 last year if our oline would have been even a little above mediocre.
Take a reality check please and put down the :koolaid: ..... ;)
-
I think most of the rankings are correct but you cant say that our oline is as good as you say it is until they actually show it.
It's a new season and none of these OL are as good until they show it...we clear? We're ranking this based on what we think they will accomplish.
If you noticed I ranked them more based on level of returning experience...the more the better.
You act like KSU didn't do some good things w/ the OL last year and neglect that rushing ypc in conference play was UP 1.5 per attempt. That we gave up fewer sacks than either of ku or Nebraska's OL despite having quite a few pass attempts.
Does that mean our OL was better? No, absolutely not but it was better than it was the year before.
Like I said...ku had their interior OL gutted. IF you want to pretend their OL will be the same and our OL will just flatline then by all means.
-

Of course our line showed some good things last year. I really think though if our Oline would have been better last year then freeman would have been ALOT better. We may have gave up fewer sacks but in the long run getting a good push every play is very important and that is where our Oline struggled. Freeman was pressured more times than you can count. That was where our problems were and that is where our defense excelled. We would get a great pass rush almost every play much like the opposing teams would do against us.

the entire offense works in unison. Believe it or not some of those pass pro problems can be attributed to things other than the OL. Some of it to Freeman himself. A true freshman isn't going to recognize all of the things a defense is about to do or mismatches before the snap.
ku, for example, would not have produced nearly as much pressure if we had a healthy receiving corps. It's hilarious that some people think we were not handcuffed in that game going into it. Rutgers was going to kick our ass regardless.
I would love for Prince to be a magician and just wave a wand over the OL last year but it was still a young line and some of the personnel was recruited for things Snyder wanted to do. It will be better this year.

1. You still need to stop taking things so personnally. Its not like im telling you that you are a horrible person, its just that I am looking at it not as :koolaid: ish
2. Yes he was going to make mistakes because he was a freshman. He didnt have the opportunity to make the right reads after the snap because he was always trying not to get killed.
3. Stop making excuses about the ku game. They kicked our ass so we need to focus on kicking them right back at our place.

I'm not sure what gave you the idea that I'm taking anything personally. You and I disagree about a few things....and? I'm presenting my case since you think I'm sipping kool-aid due to the rankings.
It's pretty simple.

We were far from winning in any of our losses. To say the O-line improvement would of made us nearly top 25 worthy is a stretch. We weren't on the brink of anything. We were a hell of a lot closer to more losses than more wins. That said, it says a lot about our team for winning those close ones.

I'm not getting murdered, I'm just saying the realistic stuff that would never be uttered out of either of your kool aide drinking mouths. I love the optimism but I just dont see the Oline being that good this year(as of now). There is a difference between difference of opinions/perspectives, and getting murdered.

I'd also be interested in Manhatter's revised rankings.

I would imagine the biggest movers would be NU and ku. Everything else has pretty much panned out team wise. We would have to greatly lower our D pos by pos and maybe raise some of out O pos by pos.
