Title: J Nelson
Post by: chum1 on May 03, 2006, 07:06:25 AM
A little birdy told me that Jordy Nelson has been benched.  I don't know what that entails exactly, although I got the impression it means that Nelson will probably not be able to retain his starting position next year.  Did the GPC story on receivers rate them in any way?

WTF?

Jordy Nelson?  Hasn't Moriera been in the doghouse and doesn't Figurs have an never-ending case of the dropsies?

Benched for what exactly?  Summer workouts?  There's nothing going on with football until the fall.  So unless he's in jail for the next 2-3, or he has been caught cheating in all of his classes, or something else that would warrent an NCAA investigation, I'm going to have to say no way is this true.

It's offseason, sounds like motivation for Moreira, Figurs, Taylor, Richards and Grigsby to bust hump until August.

Like I said, my impression from the conversation was that 'benched' meant that, as of now, it looks like he will not be a starter next year.

I, too, will not believe it until I see it.  Nelson was our best offensive threat last year and maybe the only offensive guy you would consider to be a really great player.  I simply can't imagine that anyone has decisively beaten him out at this point.

What's interesting, though (and also the only reason I would consider making the post), is that the source is someone in a position such that he could very well know what he is talking about.

That sounds like it could be a pretty good explanation of what is going on.

Short of Wafford and Archer, every starting slot should still be up for grabs.

Still, it's darn hard to imagine Nelson not just starting, but being our top receiver next year.  By a wide margin.

it sure looked to me like in the spring game the coaches knew that jordy was the best threat.  they threw him a fade in the end zone when he was being covered by mckinney, the guy prince keeps essentially saying is our best CB.  also he made a great catch on the sideline and was being covered by mckinney the majority of the game.  he was also voted as a captain, i think, by the players.  he could be in the doghouse for something but i would expect him to get out of it by the time the season rolls around.

Other option is that he got injured....

One more would be him involved in a "Roberson" incident.

Is it acceptable to admit that I have a man-crush on Jordy? :ku:  :shy:

We're just among friends here....

Maybe he's pulling a Meier and just doesn't 'feel ready'.

It appears that Meier doesn't "feel ready"
